| reply to jlhugh said by jlhugh :Looks like Singletary won't put up with the crap going on in San Fran. Good for him. That is the kind of coaching I want here in big D. I'm not sure starting your head coaching career with a lopsided defeat and calling out players is the precursor to a successful coaching career. Coaches do need to play with who they have during a season, and one of their jobs is to get the best they can out of their players. If Singletary repeats this on a weekly basis he's going to look like he's in over his head and he'll begin to lose player support and, more importantly, player effort.
He did mellow out some today: »www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/sfg···id=31981
But he does seem a bit detached from things.
-Singletary said he wanted a game manager at quarterback, but he said that didn't mean he wanted a 2-yard out, followed by a run, followed by a 2-yard out. He said Montana was a good game manager.
-Singletary has said a couple times that he wants a physical offense, which seems to fly in the face of what Martz is trying to do. Singletary doesn't agree. "I think his offense can be very physical and it can put the ball in the air." The blend between what Singletary wants and what Martz wants will bare watching. -- relax |
