ESPN reported last night that up to 16 players League wide were caught.

Guess they sprang a new test on them or something. IMO, probably 50% of the league is on something. And that's probably a conservative guess. They just don't test everybody at once.

So testing positive for a diuretic that can act as a mask for 'roids is now equivalent to testing positive for 'rods?

Yeah, they may be guilty, but I have a big problem with assuming guilt based upon detecting a substance that can act as a possible masking agent when that substance also has other medicinal purposes.

There is an herb called Goldenseal which has many beneficial uses. People thought that taking Goldenseal before a drug test would mask any drugs in their system. Employers became aware of this and began testing for Goldenseal along with the tests for illicit drugs and if you had Goldenseal in your system you were deemed to be attempting to mask your drug use. This kept Goldenseal users from acquiring jobs although Goldenseal is used for other purposes and does not mask drug usage. Go figure.

Yeah, it's a slippery slope. It's like punishing people for (real or imagined) intentions, rather than actual acts. There's too much of that going on.
