Does anyone know if Boston has a free store, where I can get used furniture for free? I'm looking to move up there, and need to furnish an apartment. -- NIL ILLEGITIMUS CARBORUNDUM! |

| reply to Maggs Why would a store exist to give merchandise away? Look for Goodwill or Salvation Army stores to buy pre-owned furniture cheap. -- Write me up a 125.......I Can't Drive 55 »redrocker.com/ »cabowabo.com/ |

| From that link, it doesn't look like you will have much luck finding one in the US.
The only reference close are dumps in the New England area:
"Some rural towns in the US, especially in New England, will have a swap-shed at the local dump. Useable but unwanted items will be left there for anyone to take." |

The reason why I suggested Craigslist is because many people get desperate to off their furniture and usually will let good stuff go for VERY cheap if you can haul it off. |

| reply to Maggs I wouldn't furnish my place with free furniture. I'm scared to death of bed bugs. Germs too
Go to Walmart or your local furniture store and ask them about the cheapest sets they have. |

| reply to Maggs You can drive around town on garbage pickup day and see what is being tossed out. But, then that would cost you in gas. Look in local papers some people put in ads to get rid of stuff and not have to pay the garbage company extra money to haul it away. Why are you moving if you don't have money? |

Like usps boxes, They are property of the government and are only used for shipping purposes. This is flat wrong. UPS and FedEx are not government-owned companies, therefore, their property is *not* government property. They just don't like you using them for other purposes because the boxes are *free* and they give them out with the expectation that you'll be using their services with those boxes. |
