Contractor ...... not Comcast.

Oh and btw I have every blueprint to every single persons home in my backpocket. This includes all renovations and where the unlicensed plumber put the new drain pipes from upstairs down a wall that wasnt there. So I knew exactly where that toilet pipe was was and chose to drill right through it.
Bad things happen occasionally , and they do get taken care of via insurance. That contractors employer has the needed insurance to cover the damages (or should at least) and this customer should NOT have to put out a cent.

It was a plastic pipe. Drill would go thru it like a knife thru butter.

PVC pipe is pretty thick, when you drill though you can actaully smell plastic burn. These guys were idiots.

You hate Comcast so bad it stinks. I was putting a thermostat wire to another room. About a month later I notice water next to my washer. Guess what I drilled a hole in my washer drain pipe. No plastic smell.
I'm not idiot. I have not had any problems with comcast. My daughter has not had any problems with Comcast. I have not seen any Comcast trucks or vans n the area.
I will recommend Comcast to any one
Other company's all so drills hole where they should not but not reported.

I was gonna say S*** happens , but way too easy.

I have been this biz for 12 years and NEVER drilled through a drain pipe. I have had a customer using s SAWSALL CUT HIS OWN gas line while I was there.

Need? Probably nobody. But for many cultures and families, the kitchen is the main "family room" in the house where people gather. To have a TV there is completely reasonable & desired.

Comcast has to be the worse service I ever have to deal with. They are a company on the way down, with their 3:1 compression HD, crappy CS and as mentioned here their horroble installer Contractor or Comcast employees.

Re: Homeowner Says Cable Mistake Filled Kitchen With Raw Sewage

There are a few parts that smell about this install.

1. If you are drilling through a wall, you would have felt some resistance twice, going into the first wall, then straight into the next wall. I have drilled into numerous walls and have known when I have knicked pipes and ducting. Of course that's why I do a preliminary test hole to feel what I'm going through.

2. When pulling the cable through the hole, you should have detected something on the cable going through a sewage pipe.

3. Seeing that there is a faceplate installed means that if it was installed according to code then there should have been a wall box installed with a proper cutout. If that had been done, the contractor would have seen the damage.

In reality, Comcast should also have some responsibility in making things right, since they contracted out the work in the first place.

In 10 years that I had Comcast, Cs the installers where ok. Where the bs about dish and directv and their compression. Directv came out to do and install for me and was told that that I could get all channels. After he drilled holes for the one dish he found out that I would not be able to get some channels because the tree's blocked that satellite. Now you want me to I show the holes that drilled into the side of house.
Now do you read where I said that directv is crap, no you won't.

Re: Homeowner Says Cable Mistake Filled Kitchen With Raw Sewage

you all can say it shouldnt happen. but it can and does happen. there isnt always a void between the pipe and the wall. around here inside sprinkler line which are plastic are required to be tacked directly against the top of the wall stud. that being said i one time drilled down from the attic and there was no void. directly from the wood into the plastic. shit happens. i called my insurance company and they paid the damages. it happens to the best of us. it also happens to any company that does this kind of work. the only way to know for sure is cut into the wall. most people are willing to ACCEPT that shit happens.

You could easily substitute the word "cable" in the headline with "satellite", "phone", or "Fios". These types of errors are made every day by techs of various skill levels in all services of its type.

I know of a house that had to be evacuated because the phone company drilled through the gas meter. I also know of another house where two different fire companies, the police, and the power company showed up because a DirecTv tech drilled through the main outside power line while installing a cable jack on the second floor. In both cases, the things that were hit by the drill were in plain sight.

Oh, and how many sewer, water, or power lines do think were destroyed by the construction crews who were installing Fios in various neighborhoods across the country, even though the utilities were clearly marked?

I am sure that all of you who post comments regarding this person as a horrible human being and a worthless idiot are all perfect human beings who never made mistakes in their life. Alas, we can't all be like you.

You are obviously the best that this world has to offer, but it makes me wonder why you would even care about those of us who can't possibly meet your expectations? I mean, why not use your perfection to help make this world a better place, rather than digging up anti-Comcast news stories and post horrible things about the lowly technician who is just trying to make a living for himself?

I guess being perfect is so boring because life is so un-challenging for you, that you have nothing better to do. I feel sorry for you, really.

I have been a PC and Network tech for almost 16 years, I have run cat5, coax and fiber and I have always examined the area closely that I would been laying cables or drilling holes and not once have I hit a power line, pipe or anything. These tech's were careless and just wanted to get the job done quickly and did not care about quality or how they would leave a person's home.
