| [TWC] Rates going up in Mid-Ohio
Got a flier in the mail today from TWC saying in part...
"With many of our operating costs escalating, we must adjust the prices of some of our services accordingly. Effective with November bill statements, the monthly rate for Road Runner service wil increase by $2.00. Please see your October bill statement for current pricing. If you signed up for service with a guaranteed rate for a specified time period, you will continue to pay that rate for the duration of the promotion period."
Typicaly BS -- In relative terms life is shorter than the blink of an eye. Remember that each and every day because in the end it's not about what you've done but how you've lived.

1 edit | And then there are people that still think that "the fundamentals of our economy are strong".
Price hikes suck of course, regardless. But hey.... TWC's gas bills for their truck are also getting higher, just as their electricity bill. I don't think they are lying when they are saying their operating costs are getting higher, I just wish they would just cut some more in the bonuses for the big shots instead.
Also.... they NEVER "raise" prices of course. They "adjust" them.

Powerboost? A joke in NE Ohio. You can never come close to the modem cap, much less exceed it. |

@rr.com | What, a "lier" about the gas?
They haven't raised prices for Internet SINCE gas has gone up to over $3/gallon.
So I don't see how anyone is a "lier" about it. |

| reply to Anonymous_ said by Anonymous_ :your such a lier about the gas the prices are going down Ohio 3.384/g avg I hate to burst your bubble, but in 2000 I could still fill up a tank for under $1.50 in CA, and regardless of how you look at it, the prices for filling up TWC's trucks have at least DOUBLED since then, and for a while it was close to TRIPLED.
I don't know the prices back then in 2000 in Ohio, but I am willing to bet it is also about double or more.
And there is more operating costs that TWC has. Electricity has gone up, thanks to the Patriot Act ISP's (including RoadRunner) had to install costly sniffing equipment in case they want to keep tabs on someone (and no, the government didn't foot the bill for those, the ISP's did and thus the clients).
Then there is inflation, salaries going up, TWC shares going down due to tanking economies, business credit that is whacked up, etc, etc....
I am actually surprised that TWC in CA has done so LITTLE price increases, I just remember one of about $1 on my total bill somewhere in 2007..... |

The price of crude oil so far has done nothing to gas prices in the last 2 months. Oil has been up and down, yet GAS prices have remained about where they were when gas went up to $145/barrel.
Not to mention, gas prices NEVER really eased after Hurricane Katrina pushed them to $3/gallon, and Hurricane Gustav has set prices where they are now, because of the major refinery outage that choked the Southeast from getting much gas at all.
Also, can you NOT READ what I said earlier? Gas prices have been going up wildly for the last 3 years, and this is the first time that I recall that TWC has even attempted to raise Internet rates because of it. Not to mention that ALL energy prices have gone up. And not to mention that the shipment of new gear to TWC and ANYONE have huge fuel surchages tacked on now. |

| When the government pulls +$800B out of thin air ($700B + another $100B in 'pork' spending to make it pass ), there's going to be inflation. Add in tight credit markets, poor competition, and the 'just because' factor, some price increases are inevitable. -- Canada = Hollywood North |

@rr.com | Gas in Ohio is ~2.95 - At least in the NEO Market. Costs has gone up. An average "truck roll" will cost TWC $180. |

| Seen it @ 2.99 a few places outside of Akron but I really doubt this is all about gas prices and more about general inflation. The cost of everything is going up, businesses aren't getting any short term credit and as someone pointed out when the government prints up $800,000,000,000 (that's a damn lot od 0's)it won't get any better. |
