| [T-Mobile] Coverage
Is it just me or T-Mobile's coverage got worse in the city. In the places where I have no TMO coverage I get SOS, which indicates I can make emergency call on other GSM carrier (ATT), so it shows that ATT has at least twice as better coverage. I don't understand, TMO used to be decent, now it is just pathetic. I use wifi mode on blackberry to make calls via wifi, because some places coverage is tragic. Does anybody else experience bad coverage from TMO in NYC? -- Semper Fi |

| I hear you. Their coverage has gotten really bad. I dunno if its because of them trying to implement 3G or what but my signal sucks and call quality is even worst. If it wasn't because that I'm locked into a 2 year contract, I'd be going to Verizon. -- "Who knew there'd be so much drama inside the gates of Pacific Bluffs? I never knew." |

| reply to Tomek FWIW, my experience is different. I get good coverage with TMobile in the city, at least in the areas I go regularly, and quite good coverage even when hiking up in Westchester, when hiking friends don't with Verizon, etc.
The one problem I do have with annoying regularity is sometimes the phone doesn't ring when a call comes in and the first notice I get is the "missed call" alert. The caller later tells me that it went to voice mail instantly. And once in a while, that missed call alert comes in quite a while after the call did. Weird.
My work cell is ATT 3G, while my personal cell is TMO. I find ATT sometimes has worse coverage in the boonies than TMO does, and the voice quality on my Tilt (Blackberry-type device) is poorer than the cheapo phone from ATT. YMMV. -- The truth of a thing is the feel of it, not the think of it. -- Stanley Kubrick |

There is NO T-Mobile service available at ALL, NO Sprint, no nothing else, North of the Thruway, thus eliminating the whole Northern half of NY State. |

| reply to liamwright I just hope it is is the case with 3G upgrade. The worse thing even with sufficient EDGE coverage, I have problems accessing Blackberry network. I may just end up going to verizon. I will see how bad will it get. There must be a way of that damned contract. -- Semper Fi |

| reply to Tomek if you show good enough cause they will let you out of your contract with no ETF.
I tried to get out of my contracts, although unsuccessful, you have to write their contract department and show them good cause of how adversely affected you are because of poor to nill coverage in certain areas.
Be sure to cite exactly when and where you had problems.
Just call up CS and ask them for the information of where you can mail the contracts department a letter.
Good Luck. -- Im on DSLR more then im on my wife, aint that a b!tch. |
