I am currently exchanging emails with 2wire's tech support to know if it could be possible to enter a different keycode by going into debug mode (the JTAG pin 1&2 thing that some of you are most likely aware of).  I don't know if this would allow one to change the keycode?  And if yes, then could we possibly use the modem as-is without any reflashing?<br><br>Edit: I called 2wire yesterday and it's too bad that I'm in Canada, or else I would've asked them to JTAG it to the AT&T version, which is not locked... =/]]></description>

It do work in bridge mode, look for the options.<br><br>Don't forget to disable the auto update on the modem, and I think the forced @singtel was in there also.<br><br>Just need to be reconfigured, after all, you unlock more than 1000% disabled functions after replacing Bell's firmware.]]></description>

Befre I get a chance to call TekSavvy to see why (it turned out it was not activated yet), he went ahead and gave me this 2Wire 2701HG-G for free!<br><br>Now I guess to make use of it, I will have to unlock it. I will test it once I get the line up first. But had a question:<br><br>Did you guys figure out how the original firmware can be backed up?<br><br>Also, after I flash it, should I use it for an MLPPP strategy?]]></description>

How can i tell?<br> </div>Most obvious is the logo on the web interface, if it shows the 2Wire or blank then most likely it is not ISP branded but I am uncertain whether it is always customized for the ISP. Second thing which I think would probably verify almost 100% is in the MDC under Components, on mine it shows the following:<br><br><textarea name="code" class="text" cols=50 rows=10>DSL Modem:  7.1.9&#012;system: 61861&#012;base_ui: 61862&#012;common_en: 61864&#012;base_voice: 61863&#012;sbc_config: 61898&#012;sbc_logo: 61899&#012;sbc_en: 61900&#012;sbc: 61901&#012;sbc_providerconf: 61902&#012;Firewall Rules: 1000&#012;Application List: 1001&#012;IGMP Proxy: Disabled&#012;IGMP Snooping: Enabled&#012;</textarea><!--end code block--><br>It should not show SBC or any provider.
