| NHL 09 - the best possible worst game ever.
I'm pretty upset at how EA could make such a pretty hockey game and have such a buggy online component.
-My xbox seems to crash every third game when I try to play online.
-You can join team games after they've started(once they've gone to the position selection screen), so you just get stuck in limbo for 5 seconds then it disconnects you.
There's no way to know which games are started and which you shouldn't join, so you often have to try 2-3 games before being able to join one.
-Sometimes it seems the teamgames you can join don't work at all.
-The EA servers go down often...which upsets me.
-I heard an interview with some guy who made the game that said they spent 6 months on the BE A PRO CAMERA....
they should have spent another 6 on it...that things screws me up half the time. You're facing one way, suddenly the camera swoops in to completely disorient you.
This has been the most frustrating fun I've ever had.
I understand why people don't like EA now.
I take back any comments defending them.

| I've had one lockup so far.
We get a lot of "empty" connections when our team tries to play another. It often takes a few tries before a successful connection.
It's not enough to frustrate me, yet. 
One thing that IS frustrating is that the game lets two teams with white jerseys play each other, which ends up being a confusing game. There should have been some kind of safeguard against that happening.

I read somewhere that the Xbox 360 version is really messed up. They have to release a patch to fix the many problems.

Well the ps3 version has a few hiccups itself..
CONS:
-it restarts the periods and sometimes restarts 10-20seconds everytime. Just resets the puck to faceoff..
-When editing your "Be a Pro" profile and "test run" it.. it will freeze and will have to hard restart(Hold the power button)-- had that happen to me personally
-Seems to me that the framerate got worse since last year.. ive noticed that the connections are not as stable.. kinda like speed hacking when it lags.. pretty funny..
Now, for some reason it seems that the XBOX version is quite different..
"The whole join a team when started"
- Thats pretty impossible for the PS3 version.. they kick you or say "not avail" -- not quoted to the "t"
"No way to know which games are started and which you shouldnt join"
- In the PS3 version they give you a "split screen" showing whos in the lobby and on the other screen who's waiting for players to join
"EA servers go down"
- In the TOS or whatever its called it says it goes down at 2am on tuesdays.. dunno if thats just PS3 or what.. yet to happen to me..
And if onebadmofo reads this: No i didnt get a msg when playing NHL09.. if thats what you mean.. i just see you ONLINE and OFFLINE when ingame. |
