[E-mail] Comcast E mail acting up!

For the last week or so My comcast email has been acting up. Everytime I check for new e mail a window pops up asking me for the password.

Anyone else having issues?

My E mail program is Windows Live Mail.

I am in Philadelphia,PA

Webmail asks me to sign in... if I haven't been there for a while.
Normal as far as I see.

He might be referring to just a client issue. I am seeing it now with Thunderbird. It's asking me for a password and then times out. Webmail is working fine for me though.

Are any of you guys running AVG antivirus? We've been seeing this a lot in the last couple of days, and it seems like disabling AVG has been at least temporarily resolving the issue. We're trying to figure out if this is just a symptom, or if there's something in an update they did recently that's affecting this. I've also had luck moving people over to incoming port 995 with SSL turned on, but we're looking for a more permanent solution.

No, using Comcast's free McAfee.

The new thing is Zimbra. »www.readwriteweb.com/archives/zi···o_hp.php

The network admins are probably having issues with the switchover...even though Zimbra is fully supported.

And comcast email imo is not work the headaches. I have gmail and my domain email hosted by them, let me tell you its been a smooth ride so far. And you can't beat their spam filters.

Same for me here. About 5 days I get errors with my mail, Windows Live. I called Comcast but they had no clue what I was talking about so for now I am just dealing with it. Glad I am not alone though

Yes I've noticed that outlook keeps on asking me for the password even though it's stored already. Only happens periodically but it is happening to me here in Jax.

I had the same issue, can you do this at the command prompt?

nslookup pop.comcast.net

and see if we got the same server? that way when I call them I can see if they are having issues with any particular server.

My server says "cns.inflow.pa.bo.comcast.net"

It's happening here, as well -- constantly for the last week.

Yep, same thing here. It has been going on for over a week but it is not consistent. At this time I am being asked for a password which it rejects. In a few minutes, or one time almost 30 minutes, I get my mail with no intervention.

It's useless to call Support.

Edit: I forgot to nemtion that I am using only Outlook Express

It's not only Comcast. Yahoo Mail Plus is doing something similar using a client as well. I use MailWasher to poll my email throughout the day from several accounts. I get errors from Comcast and Yahoo all day long. I've been seeing these issues with Comcast for several months now off and on.

If you go to comcast.net and then it remembers your password and you try to check mail, it asks you for your password again. Ridiculous. Gmail remembers you.

I check my email at least twice a day using OE and haven't had any of the problems mentioned. It receives the mail every time and sent out the few messages I have sent.

I haven't had this problem though my dad did. All I did was change his password and it fixed the problem.

Just go to comcast's website and change your password for your email address and that should fix your problem.

Its a known issue and comcast is aware of it. Network engineers are looking into it now
