1 edit | New Home Office
It's been a couple of years since I've posted pics and thought now that I have everything set up exactly the way I want, it would be a good time to post some new pics. Back in April 2007 we built a room from basically the ground up. Before it was just an empty unfinished room full of junk.
The room after completion was much different that what it turned into. I started out with a completely different wall color and florescent lighting. This past spring a changed out the florescent for recessed lighting and in July I repainted the room as the original color I started with did not go with the direction I wanted to take the room. I'll post the new photos here and then post links to the pics of the room just after completion.
So here's the rundown for each picture.
Picture 1: That is a Bush Furniture desk/collection. The lights in the hutch are TIX clocks (6 of them). The lights above are the Cyron LED lightbar set. Computer is behind the desk. You'll see why a few pictures down.
Picture 2: With the lights off and the glow of the LED's.
Picture 3: Dual monitors. LG Flatron L1715S 17" and Rosewill R912E 19".
Enermax Aurora Silver Aluminum keyboard.
Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 8000.
Speakers (which can't be seen here) are the Logitech Z2300 2.1 set.
JVC SVHS HR-S5912U deck I use for capturing VHS tapes.
On top of the VCR is an I-Rocks media card reader.
Behind the monitor is my Motorola cable modem, Linksys wireless router, and D-Link 7-port USB hub.
The computer itself is a system I built in 2005. Case is a Cooler Master. Two 250 GB HD's, 1 GB RAM, AMD Athlon 64-bit 1.8 Ghz processor, floppy drive, DVD burner and DVD player, Abit AN8 mobo, EVGA GeForce 8600 GTS 256MB video card, SAPPHIRE Theatrix Theatre 550Pro TV Tuner Card, Creative SB Audigy 2 sound card. Running Windows XP Pro SP3. I plan to build a new system next year. I want to get a couple of 24" widescreen LCD's too.
Picture 4: HP LaserJet P2015 printer and a Panasonic cordless phone sitting on top of a Staples filing cabinet (used to store paper stocks and some binders.)
Picture 5: A Bush Furniture bookcase I bought a couple of months ago. Just a couple of pictures, DVD collections, and some old game collections, that's about it.
Picture 6: This is why I have my desk about a foot away from the wall and the computer behind the desk. All the cords and clutter where I can't see it. My feet don't touch it either when I'm using the computer.
Picture 7: Three LED lightbars behind the hutch.
Picture 8: Three LED lightbars on top of the hutch.
Picture 9, 10, and 11: Old Roland RD-300 piano, Alesis NanoVerb on top, on the shelf a Sony tape deck and CD deck, and Behringer mixer. Behringer amp to the side.
Picture 12, 13, and 14 Hammond CV organ and Leslie 21H speaker. If anyone here knows anything about Hammonds and Leslies, you know what a true piece of heart work they are. The bench was made by a woodworking company in PA. I stained and finished it myself just recently.
Picture 15 Just a Hammond PR-40 tone cabinet. Again you'd have to be a Hammond/Leslie buff to understand...
That's it. Sorry for the long and detailed post. If anyone has any questions about anything, feel free to ask. BTW: About all the LED's and desk. I can't take the credit for this idea. There's a well known geek out there who gave me the idea to do this for my own home office. I'm sure many of you know who I'm talking about.
Here's pics of the room after it was finished. »img221.imageshack.us/img221/4866···5kn6.jpg »img264.imageshack.us/img264/4029···6et4.jpg »img221.imageshack.us/img221/6500···7hd9.jpg »img502.imageshack.us/img502/9427···8rt6.jpg »img221.imageshack.us/img221/6818···4af6.jpg |

Do you have a link to those LED lightbars? I have a desk with an overhead shelf and those look like the perfect thing to mount under the shelf to put light on the desk (assuming you can get them in white). -- --- Eleven years of carrying The Clue Bat... |

1 edit | Yep, that's the one. First time I saw that setup I knew that was exactly what I wanted for my home office. Took me a while to find out what those lights in the hutch were until I read somewhere that they were TIX clocks. I couldn't find the desk either until Chris made a video about his desk. It was totally worth the investment. Everyone that see's my office loves it and I love showing it off. I wouldn't mind having a couple of 30" Dell's sitting on my desk, but that's just a fantasy for now.
EDIT: Totally didn't even notice the last poster's username was ChrisPirillo, lol. |

1 edit | reply to Prismatic said by Prismatic :Looks just like Chris Pirillo's setup I was just going to say that. Except Chris has a couple of 30" Dell monitors and a Macbook on his desk. I really do like the Tix clocks, I probably will pick up a couple of them myself.
Similarities aside, you've done nice work. Your desk looks very good! I also have the same wallpaper you have in the first shot - got it from caedes.net. |

| reply to Rstroup99 Just a little update. I've since added a couple of Acer 24" monitors (model X243w) and an 8" digital picture frame (can't remember the brand). I also moved the keyboard tray over after having removed the left end of the 60" desk so I could physically attach it to the 72". I was getting tired of it sliding around and having to reposition it. |
