Then your ISP must have the modem locked into bridge mode,since the router is handling the PPPoE authentication. Is the router's WAN PPPoE set to "Keep Alive: Redial Period 30 Sec."? Is your MTU set to 1492? -- Got a Clark,Crown,Drexel forklift and need technical advice? Ask me about it. |

@aei.ca
| Yes it is, but set to 60 seconds
MTU: 1424 Local DHCP Server: On DDNS: Disable MAC Clone: Disable NAT: Enable Dynamic Routing: Disable Block Anonymous Internet Requests: On Filter Multicast: Off Filter Internet NAT Redirection: Off Filter IDENT(port 113): On |

| reply to Mountaineer1 I already had the MTU issue but it is solved from a long time ago (easier to detect imo).
I could use an higher value but this is the recommended value from the ISP so for troubleshooting something else I'll leave it as-is for now (and I didn't had any issue lowering it) |

@aei.ca | I bought both (modem & router) on June last year (2007) |

@aei.ca
| An ongoing issue that I was tired of but never had much time to spare on it. When it's happening, I disconnect and reconnect the router (5 sec delay on average) and the connection is brought back immediately (well the time Windows need to reconnect on the router, the little animation of the network connection in the systray)
Yes everything is analog. I only have a single phone here which is filtered.
Only internet & the phone on the line, nothing more. |

|
  Megistal
@aei.ca
| I would say from the router to the modem because when it's occurring I can still access the other PC normally.
What I've noticed when a disconnection occurs: - ISP's logs does not show me as disconnected. - Modem WAN light is not blinking (for SLAM connection) - Modem ALM (alarm) light is not lit - WAN is not accessible - Both computers connected via LAN using the router are accessible and can see each other and exchange files without issues - Rx PPP TERM_REQ code appear in the Router Log - WAN Router Status is "Connecting" (not connected) - Windows on all computers does not "lose" the connection with the router
I suppose the router has something not well configured / defective / issue communicating with the modem / a virus but I would be very surprised by the latter |

| It sounds like a modem sync issue,too me. Do you have another modem,or can you borrow a modem to test with? -- Got a Clark,Crown,Drexel forklift and need technical advice? Ask me about it. |
