justin Australian join:1999-05-28 Brooklyn, NY | No I think it is the true PS3 wipeout, and at 60fps and 1080p what else could it be, but they promise ongoing DLC |

| I remember when the first wipeout XL came out...and I may have been outta the loop (but I dont think so), but I recall them them having Prodigy - Firestarter and a few other bands (I wanna say the Chemical Brothers) long before they made it big in the states.
I LOVED flying around the course in the original, and this was the first game that I bought for my PSP....this is always a must have for me. |

| There will be online play for up to eight players is what I am hearing. Early review from the U.K. are saying this game looks phenomenal and puts other high def games to shames (i.e. Wipeout HD may be the benchmark for true 1080p games). The only downside they are saying is you are getting essentially the same game as Wipeout Pure. Small price to pay if you ask me (especially since I don't have a PSP). |

Yes, this had an awesome soundtrack that really suited the feel of the game.

| Thanks....yeah, I remember being so shocked when the "new" release of Firestarter came out in the states,. I already knew every note by frickin note...lol
While I doubt the new one will be quite as cutting edge, they've always seemed to have decent music...Hope the new one continues this.
::EDIT:: Dang...they had Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Orbital, Daft Punk and Underworld...all who eventually came into their own in the techno scene. nice picks! |

| The album has a few different tracks that were on the game, and it is missing some that were on the game.

Well, I don't know about the states but these bands were huge in europe when they appeared on the first wipeout - so it may have been clairvoyant for the US, but was a fairly mainstream set of tracks in the UK. |

| Just to clarify WipeoutXL (or 2097 for the limies) was the second game of the series. The original Wipeout had all of its tracks made by CoLD SToRAGE (the guy who did Canada and Body in Motion on XL). Also many of those bands, while not as big as they were in the UK, were already on the forefront of the electronic dance music scene in the US.
I recommend the WipeoutXL CD for anybody who wants to hear a great representation of the best of 90's EDM. Lots of rare tracks and a few exclusive to the CD (Fluke has a really sweet remix of Atom Bomb found nowhere else but this CD). |

| reply to justin said by justin :anyone know when PSN tends to update on thursdays.. AM, PM? evening EST? evening west coast? Normally the updates are made available around 1-3 PM for the Pacific Daylight Time. It should be the same for the US, and I see the store updates sometime after 4 PM on the east coast and no later than 6 PM. |
