My suspicion is that Verizon has to offer guaranteed money for either of these packages and they don't think they have enough customers who would buy them to make it profitable. With the growth they've had perhaps by the start of 2009 they think they'll have enough subscribers to make it work. |

| You probably nailed the chicken-vs-egg issue as far as I can tell. For me, I won't switch from DirecTv+DSL to FIOS (available since January 2008) until I can get NHL Center Ice and the NHL Network. But I can certainly understand why Verizon is reluctant to guarantee a certain dollar revenue without knowing how many people would actually pay for those services. |
