| reply to dadkins Re: Cable broadband is beating DSL
You may think screw price, but just look at the tiers people are buying. FiOS for example...they're buying the slower tier. Same with cable. They're not buying those extreme tiers, they're buying basic tiers.
Price is now and always will be king. |

| reply to Dogfather Lowest priced tiers - but what are the speeds they are getting? 768k? 1.5mbps? 4mbps? 6?
El Cheapo DSL is sucking wind - regardless of it being $14.95. Cheapest Comcast is $42.95, right?
Speed is dominating in new customer adoption. If price was king, dialup would be ruling @ $9.99 Speed my friend... speed. -- Think outside the Fox... Opera |

You know for many people 768 kbps is plenty fast enough. Dial-up is horrible. 768 kbps is 14 times fasters. HUGE difference. My mother doesn't do any downloading. She doesn't visit any video streaming sites. Frankly for her to pay $50 a month for 10 Mbps from Charter would be a huge waste of money when she can get 768 kbps from at&t for $15-$20 a month and not really notice any difference. |

I pay 40 for 7186 kbps. 18 hours of the day I have an average 2000 kbps...where the hell does the other 5000 go? who knows (I know its not people surfing the net because most are at work). I wouldn't be annoyed as much if I at least got 5000 out of the 7186 that I pay for...
for example the time is 2:23AM during a work week: |

| reply to Dogfather When people call us they almost always have two things on their mind. How much does it cost and does it work reliably. Where are these super cheap rates from Comcast? We get calls every day from people who complain that Comcast does not work reliably and that it is too expensive. When I ask how much they are paying they say they are paying 50 bucks for their internet. |
