Flying Squirrels will be about the size of a red haired squirrel. It will have pockets on each side extending down from both from legs to the back. Normally the tails of the northern ones are about the length of the entire body.

I beleive so. I used to see them in very hilly forested sections when i was a kid.

Oh yes for sure. Also does not look like the common red flying squirrel .. but hard to say since his fur is wet. I think there nocturnal also. That's why we never see them out about much.
