Called and they tell me "by 4th quarter", perhaps October but maybe that's being optimistic. Anyone heard anything lately? Is it still a contract issue or paperwork at this point? |

Seriously, the only dates I heard were possibly January or the 2009/10 season....that's what I read.
I'd like to find out about MLB Extra Innings... |

| reply to rh71 The most up to date info seems to be in Eric Rabe's replies to comments on the Verizon Policy Blog. Unfortunately he isn't saying much but no comment these days.
On June 4th, he said it was on its way, but has clammed up since then »policyblog.verizon.com/PolicyBlo···ons.aspx |

It would be awesome if I was wrong. |

| reply to rh71 Eric Rabe replied to a question about this on his policy blog just this week saying that "they're aware of the interest in the NHL channel and Center Ice"
He gave no commitment to when this might happen or if it will ever happen. Clearly Verizon is trying to negotiate a deal, but hasn't been able to nail it down yet.
I wouldn't count on Center Ice this year at all. Maybe for the 2009-2010 season.
To me, the big clue will be to see if they add MLB Extra Innings for the 2009 season. If that happens, then I'd get my hopes up for the hockey season.
I suspect part of the problem has been the somewhat limited bandwidth they've had. Now that they've largely corrected that problem by going all digital, I would imagine they'll be able to add more services like this. |

| reply to rh71 I always wondered if part of the issue is adding the channels during the middle of a season, in this case the baseball season. I recall the extra innings/center ice channels being listed in the early PDF channel realignment lineup for Fort Wayne, so I'll be interested to see if they add the channels after the baseball season. But don't really expect them to as I don't think the channels are listed in the lineups for the locations being realigned after September. |

| reply to JeepMatt IN-Demand has rights to NHL Center Ice and the other packages. They are owned by cable companies and friendly to cable companies. A cable company just has to make arrangements with In-Demand and they can get whatever of the PPV movies, events and sports packages they like.
Since Verizon is always a competitor to the local cable company, they don't contract through in-demand, they are left to make their own ppv and sports package contracts the same as the dish companies do. |

| reply to rh71 My suspicion is that Verizon has to offer guaranteed money for either of these packages and they don't think they have enough customers who would buy them to make it profitable. With the growth they've had perhaps by the start of 2009 they think they'll have enough subscribers to make it work. |

Well I'll be very disappointed if CI doesn't make it by Oct 10th this year.
I don't see how this is taking so long. VZ Wireless is a major NHL sponsor, so if we're not at the mercy of InDemand, then what is the deal??
At least we're in better HD shape than last year with VS HD finally be added. |

Also, what's taking VZ so long to get the NHL network? |

A year ago we had no choices at all. |

| reply to robjlevin Never mind. I found a discussion over on the comcast forums about it. Not everyone over there is happy about it however. They had 2 get rid of 2 HD channels in order to make room for the 2 new channels. One of the channels being removed is MOJO. LOL. |
