| No ban on energy drinks for kids
Our province {Nova Scotia} will not ban the sale of energy drinks to school kids BUT our city {Halifax}is considering banning the sale of bottled water...
IMHO this makes no sense. I would think banning energy drinks and allowing the sale of water would be the wiser...

| No kidding, I hear many kids take one or two of these before sporting events for extra 'juice'. They are really putting themselves at risk for heart issues. I cannot believe our provincial health minister is that assinine (or has such incredibly self-serving medical advisors). Well, I guess it would be too hard to police at grocery stores and chain stores and they probably generate god forbid, revenue. Go to any school junior or high school and see all the underage smoking going on, to prove that idiots cannot be held accountable. But I agree we need to get more information out on the dangers to kids and to parents.

Not sure what to say about the city banning bottled water, seems to be the in thing as of late.
With regards to the province and energy drinks though, I think that their decision is a wise one. They have banned the sale of energy drinks in schools which is fine by me but I don't believe that it is right for the schools to be policing every kids lunch.
If the parents are ok with their child having an energy drink and pack it in their lunch, I think that is perfectly acceptable. The same goes if the child goes out and buys it and brings it back that is perfectly acceptable as well.
As to whether or not these kids should be drinking some of these drinks is a another issue.

energy drinks are horrible for an adult, so I don't want to think of what it would do to kids. As far as water sale goes we already had this arguement and I'm sure we all know where we stand on it. |

Toronto, ON | Keep in mind that things like Powerade and Gatorade are grouped into this "energy drink" category and I firmly oppose banning them.
After a 20k bike ride through the bush, the first thing I drink is a bottle of Powerade to rehydrate myself. |
