There are some bad guys out there who are peddling a fake AntiVirus that is in reality malware. See the sans.org story at »isc.sans.org/diary.html?storyid=5042 for the details about the fake AV sites.

I downloaded Norton AntiVirus 2009 directly from their site: »www.norton.com/nav09

Don't you download Norton Antivirus from the Symantec Store? www.symantec.com? I've never heard of www.norton.com

Norton AntiVirus 2008 users who have a currently valid subscription can update to Norton AntiVirus 2009 for free. The www.norton.com link is valid. It is posted in this official update notice: »community.norton.com/norton/boar···.id=7127

norton.com takes me to »www.symantec.com/redirects/norto···ton_com/ to »shop.symantecstore.com/store/sym···D.106300 ... It's legit.
