Molly Hatchett was one of my favorite bands for a while, well at least the 1st 2 albums. I didnt like the new guy much with beatin the odds. Sounds like a good show although I have never heard of Whitewood |

| I never heard of Whitewood either, until I discovered them playing at the New Milford Green last July. I've filmed a few of their outdoor concerts since then; they're quite talented and do an authentic sounding southern rock. They've been playing together for 30 years and it's curious that they haven't produced an album. They almost never rehearse, but when they get on stage, they sound like they've played the songs thousands of times before--everyone plays with precision and a naturalness that isn't mechanical at all. They're opening for Molly Hatchet, who these days seems to be playing a lot in Germany, which is where they just returned from. |

| I like when bands dont rehearse, the ones that have been together for a long time. It always has a nicer better flow if you ask me. And if you see them more then once you might hear a song done a little differently. I have seen Buddy Guy several times and he says they never rehearse either and sometimes he points at someone and says do a lead and they do one and its much more entertaining.
By the sounds of it I would really like to see these guys some day. I will check out youtubee for the videos. Its good as I am always looking for bands to discover for myself |

| FYI, I've got a bunch of Whitewood videos up on Exposureroom.com, if you're curious. YouTube doesn't have any that I'm aware of.
I discovered them about the same time as I caught the Sonny Carroll Orchestra on the Green back in July. Great Big Band Jazz from them. I've got all the video clips on XR in HD. |

| Thanks. I shot these with the first full-raster high def camera under $100K and used a good X-Y stereo mike from an Austalian company.
Sonny Carroll has been around for ages. He plays the NY/CT area a lot and has been doing it since the WWII era.
The concert in Ridgefield last night went extremely well. Great lighting, decent audio and a top-flight performance. I must say the Whitewood folks are good businessmen, courteous, caring and very competent. I guess that's how they survived 30+ years together and still play like a fine Swiss watch. I got some great footage and sound and am producing a DVD video which was advertised in leaflets passed out with the program booklets.
Most of the audience bought tickets at the door. Only 150 sold ahead of time, but we had about 400 seats filled by time the first set began. |
