 Voicemail, sound quality issues

I bought this for my office - to reduce long distance call charges. I used the "forwarding" option to forward any calls made to my MagicJack number - which I do not give out, but sometimes a customer will simply hit the number to dial me back - so all the incoming calls go to my office phone, and office answering machine. (Old fashioned, I prefer an answering machine to voicemail.) Issue solved. I had purchased an inexpensive Vtech 5.8Ghz cordless phone to use with the MagicJack, but the sound quality was not great...scratchy, and at first seemed to have issues. Then I switched out that phone for an older Uniden 900 Mhz cordless and the sound was PERFECT. Definitely a phone compatibility issue. Sometimes when you call the number goes right back to dial tone. I believe that might be when the number you are calling is busy. Just wait a while and try again. Initial install was a bumpy ride, but the online live tech assist was pretty quick and whatever the issue, it worked. It starts up when I start the computer every morning, and I just leave it in the lower tray. Does not affect the computer functions. Have used a flash drive with no issues. Have not tried to record a CD with Roxio since I got it two months ago, but will be aware that there might be a conflict. Noticed that the program takes up two drive letters. Did not know how to change the drive letter names, wish I had read those instructions (in this forum) a while back. Had to completely reconfigure my hard drive backup, and back up the whole computer again (a 10 hour job with firewire) because the magicjack had used the drive letter that it normally uses.(did not realize that was what was causing the backup program to indicate there was an error). That also might be the issue with Roxio...

As an outgoing only line, for office use when my computer is on anyhow, it is perfect. I have kept my regular local phone service, as well as a low cost long distance service, just in case. Using on XP with cable internet service.
