Ah, I feel I must post to give this particular vendor a voice. If you look carefully at the right corner of this picture: »mediaarchive.cern.ch/MediaArchiv···Icon.jpg, you will see that infact ALL core gear CERN uses is Force10 Networks E1200 TeraScale switches. HP is used for some access, but Force10 is the core of that whole infrastructure. Reason for that is that Cisco simply doesn't have a switch fast enough and with as much 10G/1G density as Force10. Force10 Networks has a specific niche in high port density and very fast switching, and as such is the core equipment for Google and Yahoo!.
P.S. I do not work for Force10, but had the pleasure to install a TeraScale E1200, and it's a good piece of equipment. |
