When did it snow in the 80's?

Click for full size
Me having fun... What year (82 through maybe 86 at most)
I need to find some records of when it snowed in DFW in the 80's.

I found a series of photos that would have been taken between 1982 and 1984. They were of my grandfathers lakehouse on Eagle Mt. Lake (in Azle) and there was at least 2" of snow on the ground. From the look of me and my cousin, it really looks like it was between 1982 and 1984.

If I could find info on when in the 80's it snowed more than an inch, I bet I would know the day the pictures were taken. That kind of snowfall would have been a rare event.

Google searches are giving me nothing so far. Thanks for any help!

Thanks. Yeah I can't imagine a better place to have been when it snowed. My grandfathers house was up on a little hill about 60 yards from the shore. At the time everyone thought he was crazy but one year the Eagle Mt. flooded really bad and came within a couple of feet of topping the hill.

That house had a 20' deep porch across the entire rear of the house (lake facing). It had brick that went up 3 feet and the rest up to the roof was wooden posts and mesh wire. It had couches a water fountain and full sized bathroom. That place was so awesome. He sold it in the mid 80's.

BTW, that picture to me is what DFW use to be like. Big lots and wide open spaces.

Now DFW is a bunch of houses crammed togather on .15 acre plots whith every yankee and their cousins dog moving down here. I miss what DFW use to be. Oh well.

I believe that was Jan of 84. That was the winter the Trinity river froze over. I had just moved out to the HEB area in Sept 83. How I remember this is cause in Dec 83 before, one of my friends got married.. My radiator on my car froze over on the way home from his Bachelor party early in the morning. I had to pull the radiator out of the car when I got up and bring it in the house to thaw it out. Then we had that big snow in Jan. Got iced in at a friends apt for 3 days. It was so slick couldn't walk across the parking lot. That was one cold @ss winter here.
Pretty sure that was it. I've lived here all my life.

Probably the week before Christmas 1983. We had seven or so inches of snow one day. We were below freezing for some ridiculous number of days. I was a student at UTA at the time. My job was down on Division near 360 and my apartment was in the then brand new apartments at Green Oaks and Collins. My car was stuck in the parking lot so I walked every day to get to work stopping at Coco's (?) at Lamar and Collins for as much coffee as I could drink.

Memories
