Bell: Want decent service? Pay us.

From Digital Home:
quote:
Effective immediately, Bell TV, Bell Internet and Bell Phone customers who want service and want it fast are going to have to pay Canada's largest communications company an additional $59.95.

That's because Bell today announced new residential customer service programs it says will improve customer service when things go wrong, provided you've paid the extra cash up front.

In a written statement, George Cope, President and CEO of BCE and Bell Canada said the new "Same Day Next Day service" and "Express Install" services support Bell's new imperative which is improved customer service.

Under the new "Same Day Next Day service" plan Bell says that if a Bell TV, Phone or internet service issue cannot be corrected from Bell's offices, the company will dispatch its technicians to a customer's home on the same day or next day to undertake any necessary repairs at no extra charge. The company did not say what type of service, remaining customers could expect to get when things go wrong.

Under the "Express Install" program, new direct-to-home (DTH) BellTV satellite customer’s (formerly ExpressVu) will get installation the next day provided they've paid $59.95. The company did not say how long customers that don't pay the fee will have to wait for installation.
Is Bell serious? This has to be a joke...

Re: Bell: Want decent service? Pay us.

This is great. This proves that Bell was very truthful when they promised to improve on customer service at all levels.

Now they are giving you options to pay much more and get a tiny bit better service, possibly. So they are delivering on their promises, you have to give them that.

A similar fee may be introduced someday to jump ahead in call queues for support/billing issues.

Perhaps in the future they will give an option to bypass Emily for a certain fee. Additional fees for knowledgeable and helpful tech support might be another way to increase revenue.

So someone decides to take over a company, and instead of doing the right things internally they are forking the onus over to the consumers instead? LMFAO. Biggest joke I've heard, the best part is they are telling you straight out. " We at Bell, are totally dysfunctional, if you want bettER service, you will pay".

Holy smokes people it's 2008, things are truly getting bettER!!!!!!
I think the Star has another classic article to write here.

BIG TIME MISQUOTE HERE GUYS.

There is NO extra fee for same day/ next day REPAIR for an existing service that impacts your home.

The fee is only if you want a rush install on a NEW service.

"Please note that earlier today, I had announced that a fee was applicable to this service. In fact the fee is only applicable to another new service from Bell called Express Install. My apologies for the mistake."

Totally mis represented the services.

Express Install, which carries a $60 fee expedites the install of a new service. This means that instead of a normal 5 day or 1 week wait period for install/activation, you can now get it fastER for that one-time fee of $59.95, which includes all services... it's not 59.95Xnumber of services, just 1 fee for TV, DSL and phone.

Same Day, Next Day means that Bell, without any extra cost or fee to you, which send a tech out today or tomorrow to fix your problem. It is today/tomorrow because day-to-day variations in workload coupled with the time the issue is reported create some variance in time to repair. And it applies to ALL customers (subject to certain restrictions including rural/remote/acts of god of course) at no extra charge, although some issues may still take more time if it's something big that needs to be replaced like in a major cable cut, facilities are exhausted, etc.

lol. I guess they have to make some money since they are obviously low on activations. I don't see why you'd paid for expedited installs, especially since there's nothing much to be excited for about Bell services.

The Express Service has been a big seller.

It's the same thing as getting over-night shipping and paying a premium for it.

Sounds like the inside wire insurance rip-off they brought in after I left. When phone goes dead and you call 611 you are threatened with charges, but if you sign up for a year of ISW insurance then the weasel fees are waived. Then when the line is fixed (9 out of 10 are network probs.)you are stuck with the insurance.

LOL. I just called to have a basic home phone installed as a backup for my VOIP service (having some problems with my cable Internet provider lately). I was told the wait in Cobourg Ontario was 10 days, but if I paid the $59.95 fee it could be done in three days. Hell, that's not even fast service for the premium fee. What a joke. I decided I don't need a backup after all..since it would cost me $55 plus $59.95 for "fast" installation.

What's even more irritating is that the Web site says:
"Order Bell Home phone, Bell Internet or Bell TV before 3 p.m. and get hooked up as early as tomorrow. A single $59.95 fee applies no matter how many services we install." Note the words "a single $59.95 fee." This is certainly misleading, since they supplement the "single" fee with another $55 fee.

write to Bell's president of residential services kevin.crull@bell.ca

I'd be interested to see what Kevin Crull has to say. My suspicion is a shortage of techs there and that's why they quoted you 3 days. I bet there's some fine print somewhere in there.

Single fee = The $59.95 fee is not multiplied across all lines of business.

$59.95 covers HomePhone, TV, and Internet to be installed 'Expressly'

For example purposes you sign up 3 Bell services: HomePhone, TV, Internet.

HomePhone Lite [$50 Installation Fee - not $55 on this package]
Internet [$0 - Been waived since June - reg $20]
ExpressVu [$0]

You'd pay $109.95 for installation for all 3 services.

The wording on the website is pretty bad if it's what you described it as...and truly confusing to someone not in the 'know'.

EDIT: In populated areas it's Next Day 90% of the time if the order is placed before 3pm.

Judging by Google Maps you're not in a very populated area.
