XM to Sirius possible on 08 Nissan Rogue Bose Stereo?

So, my wife and I bought a brand new 08 Nissan Rogue last night. In her old car, I had done a quick install for her Starmate 3. Wires were hanging everywhere, but it was a short term install.

Her new Rogue comes with the factory installed Bose sound system with XM. She's had it a day and is already bitching about not having Sirius. My original plan was to just have the Starmate 3 installed professionally and connected directly to the car stereo so that she can just use it as she normally would and all the wiring would be hidden behind the dash and she could have it wired directly to a set FM channel.

Then, I got to thinking. Is it possible to switch the XM out for Sirius? I know about the SiriusConnect, but didn't really think that was going to help in this situation. Of course, everyone at the NICO forum says "Ehh, they are merging so it won't matter." Obviously, they know nothing about Sirius...

Any suggestions/ideas?

On the car, you press the band button for FM, and again for AM, and again for SAT. Is it possible to wire the Sirius StarMate to the head unit, so that when you press the band button to get to SAT, it plays the StarMate instead of the XM?

Other than sirius connect, I don't know, I thought in Nissan you had the option to chose either Sirius or XM?

Wasn't given that option. It specifically had XM listed on the window sticker. I think other models there may be a choice.

I was going to suggest the direct connect. But seems you have that covered.

Well, I'm thinking that is my best option, but how does the direct connect work? Does it wire directly onto the head unit, and then you just tune to the FM station and it no longer uses the FM transmitter?

Or would it replace the SAT option on the FM/AM/SAT band selector or is this what the SiriusConnect is designed to do?

Hmm just looking at Directed's website seems they only have it for Honda/Acura or Toyota/Lexus no mention of Nissan or Infiniti.

So, basically, my only option is that I can have it professionally installed to hide the wiring, but i'm still going to be using the FM transmitter?

Actually if you are handy you can do it yourself.
»www.tss-radio.com/nissan-rogue-2···074.html here is the mount. Do you have a aux input in the rogue, if so you are halfway there. Just have to figure if you want just to use a cig lighter or hardwire the power for a PNP unit.

I just read this on Sirius backstage

These kits are great, I just wish the one for Nissan was out. It's being
developed and should be out in a few months. It will allow you to
control and display your SIRIUS through your Nissan radio. We will email
you when it comes in.

notice the date, wonder if it will ever come out.

i know on our new Nissan Quest we could take it back to the dealer and have them put XM or Sirius in it. maybe you should go back to the dealer and see if there is something they can do.

Now that would be a option. Perhaps is it just a issue of changing out the transmitter?

The mount is an option, but I would like to hide all the wiring. It does have an AUX jack, but I would like to leave that open for our iPod.

I actually was thinking of the FM Direct Adapter.

That is what I was originally thinking when I said about hard wiring it to the FM. Any experience with how this works? Obviously, I would need a professional install, which wouldn't be an issue.

I guess it wouldn't hurt to call the salesman and ask if it's possible to swap it out for a Sirius. I'll have to do some research on it.

Checked into this and found it's not possible. According to this article, beginning with 2008 model years, they have a relationship with XM.

So it looks like the FM Direct Adapter may be the best option if I want to keep the AUX port free.

you could always just call your salesman and see if they can do anything for you. doesn't hurt to ask.

Another option which I did on my 02 MDX is a blitzsafe adapter. Does you Rogue have a option for a external OE CD changed

No, it doesn't, unfortunately.

The more I think about it, the more I want to go the FM Signal Adapter. It says that it just plugs in and you tune it to the FM band and then when you turn the Sirius off, it just goes back to regular FM band, but it doesn't use the transmitter thus eliminating the static. It still uses the StarMate and the antenna that came with it.

It's kind of exactly what you'd think you would be able to do with the SAT band, but I guess that's more complicated.

We use the FM direct connect in the wife's car and we just have to tune to 88.1 and we'll get the output from the Sirius Sportster Replay. So we set 88.1 as FM Preset #1, so it's really easy to select.

The FM direct connect works great! I installed it myself. You can do it if your handy.

Cypher,

I actually took it to Best Buy for a clean install, since that's what she wanted, and they ran it through the AUX jack and just ran a cable that pops right out of the side of the dash and plugs right into the AUX jack. Looks pretty nice, much nicer than the wirey mess I have in my car, LOL.
