how can I add speed to the wireless network?

I recently set up a wireless network using a westell 327w wireless router modem and 2 DLB2700 repeaters with one as a dhcp server. Both DLB2700's are set in mode AP+WDS - Bridge. Everything for the most part works fine except when I do a speedtest with just the router I'm getting 3mb's down and about 1mb's up, when I added the 2 towers my speeds have dropped to about 300kb's down and 500kb's up. Is there any way to bring up the speeds with the DLB2700's and if so how?

each WDS hop will halve the WiFi speed. But the WiFi speed should be far faster than your 3Mbps ISP speed. The WiFi speed can be poor if you have a weak signal in EITHER direction.

Example: If every WiFi link has an ideal signal strength and NO interference or competition from nearby WiFi on or nearly on the same channel, with 11g, you should see 22Mbps net yield. Half of that for 1 WDS hop. If 2 hops, 1/4, or 5Mbps.

If instead, your WiFi signal strength is not ideal, and/or there is reduced throughput due to competition for airtime among nearby WiFi, speeds will come down a lot.

What ping times are reported in your speed tests via WDS? Make many tests and at the evening busy hours.

I pretty much got it figured out I started looking at other thing around me that were online and concluded it to be an interferance problem. Both AP's were on channel 11 and the router on channel 6. There were 3 other connections around me on channel 9. Once I changed the channels on the AP's to 3 my download went up to 1.5 and upload to 1.0. It's not a full 3 mb's but it is alot better than it was.

Warlok, try to use channels 1, 6, or 11 only as they do not overlap each other. Channel 3 overlaps channels 1 and 6. In your situation go ahead and put everything on channel 1 and all will work great!

yes, visualize this:
Your WiFi signal occupies 20MHz.
WiFi channels 1 and 6 and 11 are 20+ MHz apart.
Channels 1 to 5 are not.
and so on.

People operating on other than 1, 6 and 11 are creating problems for nearby WiFi systems.

But, some short-sighted soul working with IEEE created these numbered channels long ago before 20MHz was dominant.
