»arstechnica.com/journals/apple.ars
Ars Technica has lots of info on Apples September 9th "Let's Rock" Event. The company is said he announcing a new iPod, release iTunes 8, and release the much awaited and needed (for some) iPhone 2.1 update! A very big day for Apple if all the rumors are right, and coming from Ars Technica its safe to bet on it!
All while reports from beta testers suggest that the new mega update to Apples OS X (10.5.5) is also just around the corner.

Hopefully Apple can work some magic and have a great end to 2008, starting on Tuesday! |

Ive heard (link to article below) that 2.1 is supposed to be all about updates instead of its original purpose which was adding more features.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens though! |

| reply to TCub I don't like these mega events. They should work through these updates one at a time instead of these carpet bombings. Things would probably go over smoother. |

It is odd considering the alleged Jobs email stating how they could have done it better by at least separating out the MMe update. I can't remember the email now ... just that it was an admission of too much on the plate at once. --

| reply to TCub I must admit that coming from WMP years back, I am a full iTunes convert now but they do need to clear-up the resource hogging issues. It gets crazy in cover flow mode in Windas. WMP is a disaster in terms of keeping things organized and even on a brand spanking new Quad core machine, it is sooo slow when rendering library list views. |

Yea, I really don't like Windows Media Player. Back in the day before iTunes I used WinAmp when it was in its "simple" form. I only recently started using iTunes after I had seen my tattoo artist using it. I love the organization. I haven't had any issues with lag on my iMac but on windows it did run slow...
Unfortunately I would say its unlikely they'll fix this in iTunes 8 but we'll just have to wait till the 9th and see! |

| I have also heard rumors about a new "clean-sheet design" version of QuickTime being in the works, but I'm not sure when that will come out; probably not this month.
Ideally, this new QT will have significant security improvements, but time will tell. |

Though I rarely ever hear anything about QuickTime at all, it's usually overshadowed by Apples "buzz" products, like iTunes.
Also I'm not sure how many people use QuickTime Pro but then again I just get my iMac a few weeks ago! |
