Stalker: Clear Sky Patch Released...Before Game Release

Hah. I was a little confused when I saw the patch on Fileplanet. I didn't think the game had been released yet. In fact, I thought it was still months off, but apparently it comes out tomorrow.

I don't think I've ever seen a pre-release patch before. But hey, at least that means they're on the ball. None of this waiting months after release for a patch to show up.

Kudos to them.

I'm excited for the game. Stalker was awesome.

A few days ago I was in Wal Mart browsing through the games and there was Stalker Clear Sky sitting on the shelf. I took it to the checkout but when the lady ran it across the scanner she got a funny look on her face and said it was coming up illegal sale. I was like WTF lady I want the game, but she said no. I drove over to Game Stop and they said come back on the 15th, so I went to a different Wal Mart and it was there too. There were five copies on the shelf but they wouldn't sell them. It kind of pissed me off being able to sit there and hold the game I had been waiting for but couldn't walk out with it. In a couple weeks I'll go back and try again.

Just stopped into Wally-World and saw Clear Sky on the shelves so decided to get it. The game wouldn't scan so they said they couldn't sell it to me!! Is there still a problem with no product keys?

apparently there is a issue with the CD keys not being inside the North American release. I was under the impression that the entire lot was recalled due this...

there are reports of people having this release and that the CD key is only needed for the multiplay part.

it is release in other parts of the world that s why the patch is out

Looks like the game is really buggy...

That's a new review just published today (12th). I came to the game late and only ever played the original Stalker in XP. The entire experience was bug free and I was happy since I had read nothing but bug threads. I have the game pre-ordered so I might be waiting awhile to install it in hopes of keeping up my so far so good experience with Stalker.

I got it yesterday from Newegg, who apparently has no problem shipping the game before it's been released. I played for about three hours and experienced one crash. However, when I finished I realized that a second patch had been released. When I installed it, I discovered that my previous saves would not work! Since I was only a few hours in, I'm not that upset. However, if you get the game you might want to hold off on installing new patches released after you start playing, until they make them work with your old saves.

So far, the game is fun and looks great. It reminds me very much of the original, but seems to have more group fighting than before. (For instance, you and a bunch of guys are fighting together.)
