| Really? Powerboost can be considered as a gimmick for those who download huge files over long periods. However, the masses out there who download updates, etc., Powerboost does offer a significant advantage. I have been enjoying 2-3 minutes of PB and in most cases my files did benefit for the temporary boost.
So... although it can be considered as a marketing gimmick, it does offer advantages to many of us. |

| PowerBoost is great, huge downloads or small it doesn't matter, last night I downloaded a leaked copy of Metallica's new CD in less than 30 seconds sustaining 3.5MBPS. Even large files at multiple gigs in size being able to pound out the first minute or two of a download at those speeds helps out tremendously. People just don't understand and will always find something to bitch and cry about. -- Time Warner Cable Loyalist & Fanboy |

join:2008-02-29 Columbus, OH | reply to BWX I like the PowerBoost. I notice the difference in downloading for sure. Most of the files I download are not huge, but they are pretty large and PowerBoost seems to make a difference. I wish there was such thing as a PowerBoost for upload speeds. |

In NE/OH Powerboost is a theoretical concept with no real world application. |

| In Carlsbad, PowerBoost works as it was intended to. Temporary download speed increase to satisfy the majority of users (i.e. non power users) while not having to implement major infrastructure changes.
One important point to remember: It's free!
FWIW, I do see a difference in download speeds. But then again, my demands are not the same as the top tier power users. |

| reply to RRTurbo Maybe one day RR will decide to offer PowerBoost on the upload side. However, there are some bandwidth limitations so the "boost" would not be as significant. |

| reply to accounting PowerBoost reminds me of AMD's brilliant marketing strategy: They had less than optimal yields with their quad-core Phenom processors so many of them were being scrapped. Someone suggested offering a tri-core version. (Brilliant They created a "new market" for the then unheard of "tri-cores" and at the same time managed to improve their bottom line by not having to scrap quad-cores which had one damaged core.
PowerBoost satisfies the needs of the vast majority of regular users without having to spend a lot of money on infrastructure upgrades. They also offered it for "free"... a definite plus on the MKTG side. |

| This is the best I got in Elmira after I upgraded to turbo or whatever they call it..
Upload is ridiculously slow.. The D/L is fast at first but then quickly falls off.. I still need to do more tests to find out how much. I haven't even hooked up my own router or PC yet.
