| [connectivity] Frequent disconnects after 8:45 - 9pm Boston area
Hello guys, I have contacted verizon tech support and they said that my line is fine. What is strange is that during the daytime, when I play games/surf the internet I don't get any disconnections.
Right around 8:45pm - 9:15pm, I will have frequent disconnects for about 1 minute. (Enough to kick me off a game or make a webpage not load) I have noticed that the dsl light will be blinking during this time. I have a Westell 2200.
This has been happening for a a few weeks. Any idea what's going on? |

That's been happening to me too, I was putting it down to my lousy modem stats, but I could set my watch by it 8:45pm.
I keep losing my IP address too. (I'm in N.Indiana) |

| reply to honghong322 Me too, I live in southern CA and have been having disconnects from around 8:30 AM to about 12:00 PM actually(which is, quite a long time).
Occasionally, every 15-45 minutes, I have a disconnect. This is really annoying and has only been recently happening. |

| reply to honghong322 There is a way to get the line stats through the router, but right now, that's the only way. If you want to get the line stats while behind the router, there is a tutorial on this site for you to find.
As for your case Abc, can you post up the transceiver stats as well? Your speed tests might be showing your line is mis-synced. |

| reply to honghong322 Well, I don't see anything wrong with those line stats considering the distance, as the margins are acceptable and your line is synced properly. I'm curious if there is something nearby or a CO/DSLAM issue that is causing the DSL to resync at night. Someone else should be able to help you from here. |

| No problem here in West Newton. You're probably getting interference on your line at that time. Any auto-dial device (e.g., alarming system, etc.) connected to your phone line without a filter that is dialing out at that time? Outdoor street lights and/or high power devices on phone poles near your line can also cause interference on your phone line when they switch on or off around that time. |

| reply to honghong322 I'm from the Boston area too and I've been getting random disconnects since saturday and it's still doing it every 10 minutes or so. I can't even play games online because of this and it's getting very annoying.
I'm sure one of the reasons for the disconnects is the storm that came by our area. |

| reply to honghong322 Those of you that are experiencing disconnects need to provide more info about your setup and the observed symptoms and circumstances to see what else you guys have in common other than 'disconnects at so and so time.' For example, are your connections getting new IPs after each reconnection? Is there static on your phone lines during the disconnects? Is it the PPPoE connection or your wireless connection that's getting disconnected? What have you done so far to isolate and troubleshoot the issue?
None of you reporting a problem has provided any clue as to what could be the cause. No one in this forum is going to be able to help except provide wild-ass-guesses with just what's provided so far. If it is a major system or area wide problem, there would surely have been much more responses chiming in to confirm similar symptoms by now. Help others to help you... |

| I opened a ticket for this issue and they are supposed to send a person to my house. I used my connection quite a bit and my bandwidth doesn't seem to be affected during the day, but after 7:45 PM my connection goes on and off every 5 seconds (when I say my connection I'm not talking about wireless, I'm talking about my connection altogether). My modem log shows a ping timeout for each occurrence, but they said that when they did a test of my line (while I was on the phone with tech support and lost my connection) no problem was found. This is the only phone jack active in my house (I don't have a landline, only dryloop connection), and never had a problem for almost a year. To me, it seems that there's external noise generated at that time (because of the smoothness of service during the day). If I "ever" get verizon Tech support to come to my house I'll provide an update for the benefit of those interested on this |

| It took me a long time and several tickets to get a tech to my house, (even with the help of Vz Direct). When he did arrive the problem was at the DSLAM, I have stayed connected ever since, except at 8:45pm.
So yes will be interesting for me to see your results. |

| reply to Newtonite Whatever the problem is, it isn't line related. Two things that come to mind though. First is an issue with authentication at the radius servers, though I don't know enough about the physical layout of such a system to know if the problem could be this widespread. Second is the Verizon firmware push in the newer modems. What version firmware is everyone running? |
