| What is this thing?
 Mystery Object |
My son dug up this metal object (that his Lego Indy is currently analyzing) in his school yard. He showed his teacher and she and the rest of the class are tying to figure out what this could be...
Any thoughts out there what this could possibly be ? -- {Send Secure Notes Free and Easily} :: whisperBot.com |

| reply to QuaffAPint My first thought was that it some sort of control arm from a vehicle, but it's too small and really doesn't look like it would fit.
My second guess is that it held a lamp or light (attached to the left/top) and the right side is where the pole ran to the ground. |

| reply to QuaffAPint Wanted to add based on a couple of the replies...
It's pretty heavy for the size. It measures 5 1/2 in length by 4 in wide. So too big for something like a bike brake.
Also there was construction at the school for the past 6 months - so, maybe some construction related thing?

| Too old to be from the construction 6 months ago. How long has the school been there, and what other properties where in that location where your son found it?
It actually appears to be a handle from a Water Hydrant such as you would find at a Farm. |

| reply to QuaffAPint Thanks for all the thoughts guys...
Regarding the property - the school was built in the mid 1960s. Most of the land around here (and the school) was and in some cases, still is, farm land.
That water spout handle idea is certainly a possibility.

| reply to QuaffAPint A hunk of metal would be my guess. Could be a chunk, but it looks more like a hunk. |

The similarities to the handle of a hydrant are striking. I'd say this is definitely the #1 contender at the moment. |

| reply to QuaffAPint I really like the inclusion of Lego Indiana Jones checking out the object. I played with Legos as a kid and seeing him in the pic reminded me of how much fun I had with them. I certainly hope your son enjoys them as much as I did. |

| Legos FTW.
When I was a kid they weren't nearly as fancy and new fangled as they are now, pretty much just bricks, squares, and rectangles But you could still make some cool stuff with them. I remember when they added wheels. That was pretty cool
