The last couple of days have been really bad in regards to my speeds, and pages slowly timing out and what not.
After I had just gotten this fixed a month ago, problems are popping up again. It's NEVER been this high.
Before, they replaced the line coming into the house, and my power level was low...near 43 dB.
After, they installed something into the street, and it shot up to around 47.3.
It hasn't de-synced yet, but I'm sure that'll come shortly.
Is there a possibility there's a problem again at the line, since it was just replaced?
Any advice on what I should do? |

| Values were right up there with yours, and I was seeing numberous "T3 time-out" errors in the cable modem log. Modem wasn't rebooting or disconnecting, but the connection slowed and timed out so much I couldn't even bring up Google. They came out yesterday and replaced the tap/splitter where the line comes into the house with one that doesn't boost the upstream as much. Results below now:
Downstream Value Frequency 609000000 Hz Signal to Noise Ratio 36 dB QAM QAM256 Network Access Control Object ON Power Level 10 dBmV The Downstream Power Level reading is a snapshot taken at the time this page was requested. Please Reload/Refresh this Page for a new reading

| Well, they just replaced my stuff not even a month ago at the street, coming into the house. And they removed one splitter, got a three way, which is nice.
But, still...all these problems.
Not sure what else to do...I'm tired of having them come out here. |

| Even if a cable was just replaced, a squirrel (or some other creature) can damage it the first day.
Basically, if you can't figure out why the levels are bad, a tech will need to come out. Yes, it can be a hassle, but consider that part of the money you pay each month goes to fund the repair department- you may as well get something in return for that payment. |

| reply to Reinvent3d I don't see anything wrong with any of these signal levels, but they are a snapshot in time. are the levels changing over time? usually with this level of complaint they would be telling you to get a new modem. Again, I suggest reviewing the modem log to see if there are any disruptions.
At some point one must move beyond the 'its the drop' phase and look further in. Have you tried tools like pingplotter etc?
Have you tried changing DNS servers such as opendns?
there are many ways things can go wrong.... |
