[2K3] Network issue Help Pls

Hello Guys This is my 1st post.

I have a strange issue on my network. I have a client/server software installed on my computers "All with XP Pro". When I try to access my client "Windows 2003 Server" I receive a error message "CANNOT CONNECT TO THE SERVER"

I don't see anything in the server on the event view.

The most strange is this: If I try to view my server from any workstation using Network Places I cant see my server.

But If I try to search for my server from any workstation or If I access from my server any the client/server software start to working fine.

I don't know Whats wrong on my network or on my OS. Pls let me know Thanks

Sounds like a NetBIOS/DNS issue. Do you have a DNS server on your network? Are you running in a workgroup?

You need to make sure you have DNS server installed on the "windows 2003 server" domain controller and that the DNS IP on the server's NIC points to itself and not your internet ISPs.

Plus the "windows 2003 server" domain controller should have it's own static IP should not be DHCP'n an IP address.
