| [IE] IE 8 Beta Uninstall probelm
Yesterday I installed IE 8 Beta. It gave me all sorts of problems through DEP. I uninstalled it.
Now I have a program that will not run with UAC turned on. It will run with UAC off.
The system event message is: "Faulting application w07tax.exe, version 28.0.0.0, time stamp 0x2a425e19, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791a76d, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000bf285, process id 0x199c, application start time 0x01c90de59e3025dd."
Edit: With UAC off, it starts fine. With UAC on, it will not even get to the "Do you want to run this program" notification.
Any ideas? Are there registry settings I need to manually delete to fix this?
TIA

| Have you considered using System Restore and selecting a Restore Point prior to installing IE8 Beta?
Also, as a workaround, what may work, is to locate the w07tax.exe and then right-click the w07tax.exe > Properties > Compatibility > then select "Run this program as an Administrator" (under Privilege level) > OK |

Thanks |

Thanks. |

| reply to OldAuditor If you have used System Restore to revert to a restore point prior to installing IE8 Beta then that should have removed IE8 and any associated registry changes.
Did the "Run this program as an Administrator" help any?
Also, have you considered uninstalling and reinstalling the program having the problem? |

| Auggy:
I did do the system restore.
I did uninstall the program and reinstall (Lacerte Tax 07.)
I have not tried the "run as administrator" yet, because I have to reboot each time I change the UAC. Will try it when I have time to reboot.
Thanks. |
