| reply to Diogenes Yeah, the war to find who can charge the most without their customers jumping ship. Just like everything else the consumer will decide what they can afford and what make good financial sense to them. Some consumers will reach the 'it's just not worth it' point more quickly than others.
I took a step back and did a re-evaluation recently to determine where to spend my dollars. I looked at past trends and what the future may hold. Did I find the perfect solution? Probably not. But I found one that works fairly well and to be what I determined as being the most bang for my buck going forward. -- Rich. My Website |

That is the ONLY kind of competition we ever get in Connecticut. If a price for a service does get low, we can count on our state to increase it by direct taxation, or by mandates. -- "People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use." |

Service goes live in 4 days as planned you think the service is good. Then you get the bill in the mail and find the following;
Internet: $19.99 Total Tax: $21.94 Real Person fee: $ 4.99 Grand Total: $46.92 Taxes include a free trip to the proctologist for your free monthly white glove special!!!!! |

| When I cancelled AT&T DSL, it turned out my $19 per month DSL was really $39 a month plus tax.
AT&T's bill is complex, and the company deliberately increases DSL costs over time in my experience.
Your example sounds like fiction, but isn't far off. I don't think AT&T would include a free trip to the proctologist without adding an perineum coccyx EE911 fee somewhere. -- "People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use." |

| Yes, it can be sticker shock.. but keep in mind when you see "sale" prices for stuff in the media, online, TV etc. those quoted prices exclude taxes and shipping charges.
Point being that the item/service price advertised generally excludes taxes, S&H fees, etc. Standard practice thus a consumer should not be surprised.
About raising prices after introductory period, if any, or price increase after a year or two... That is a different story |
