No way. The 35L is one of the best primes Canon has and it doesn't need replacing

Apparently some have had trouble focusing with that lens on the Mk3s. Possibly related to the fast, wide nature of the lens along with the new AF system...possibly field curvature?

Most likely people who don't know how to shoot with fast primes. I've been using my 35L on my 1d3 without any problems. Hasn't missed the focus once yet...literally.

I'd put money on that! I watched with much amusement as a fellow Pentaxian bought no fewer than 5 different M 50 f1.4 or M 50 1.7's because they 'thought' the lenses were faulty. In the end he stopped buying them and simply said he ahd a good one but, later revealed that 'maybe' the focus issues were his own. People don't seemt o understand that the FOV is so damn narrow at those large apertures.

I believe those complaining were using the 1Ds3. I guess we'll see soon enough why they replaced it, assuming this is true. It has been out of stock for months almost everywhere.

It's almost always out of stock, but I guess we'll see what Canon has up their sleeve.

The only reason I can think of is that the original glass contained lead, but the original glass was lead-free thorium glass...
