[Wireless] How to troubleshoot a down network? (WRT54G)

The router is working good (LAN cable wise) and I did power cycle it. I also tried changing the wireless channel.

I've got two laptops and a couple o' iphones that don't see the network. Nothing has changed at all - haven't touched the router in weeks.

Could it be an actual hardware failure? It seems that's the likely thing it would be. In which case - new router time for me!

I saw one go to default factory config once. Might have been a power blip. Just had to restore the config from a backup.

I recommend trying a connection wired, to see if the router and DHCP functions are working, then work the wireless up from no security to whatever you run (hopefully some version of WPA).

One other time, I had enabled MAC filtering (yes, I know that is silly) and had a deuce of a time adding a PC, until I remembered to turn the filtering off.

I had a BEFW11S4 V2 on which the wireless radio simply died. The rest of the router worked fine, and the WLAN light was on but it would never broadcast a signal.

Could be that.

Hi,
I'd similar problem, and tried for 5/6 hours to see if there was any luck.

Finally got hold of the router set-up CD, and then went to 192.168.1.1 and performed the set-up task as it was done for first time, and after couple of tries, the router was up and running

Best luck to anyone who might have problems and if this can help!
