Re: Comcast has new Acceptable Use Policy besides the 250GB cap

The OP has two bandwidth limits topics open. I am closing this one because it is becoming a rather personal tit for tat. Please find a private chat room for such conversations. They do get old for those not involved and we need to keep the forum useful for the majority.

The established rules on starting bandwidth limits threads:

1. Only one open at a time.
2. If you don't get moderator approval to start a new one, please don't be surprised if it disappears.

The current open (unapproved) bandwidth limits topic is here ---> »[POLL] Do you agree with Comcast's new AUP ?

Take the poll with a grain of salt since any member can vote, not only Comcast customers.

Suppose your transfers the month before were more than 30% above the limit? then the 30% cut was not enough.
or suppose they saw your attempt to switch to earthlink (provided by comcast) as an attempt to avoid the limit. either way they have the right to refuse service to anyone.
in this case they can document your overage, the warning, and your attempt to go around the penalty.
I only assumed you were aggressive/argumentative because of your demeanor here.
while the FCC can/has recently made decisions on a whim, in most cases you could grow to be a very old man waiting for definitive actions to benifit your case.
good luck with that.
Thank you for the wishes. The FCC did not act on a "whim", but on well documented evidence against abusive behaviour.
I notice that you focused on one particular line in tshirt See Profile 's post. How about addressing the rest of his post.
I just did.

I asked for the number of the limit so I would comply with it. I would not call that argumentative.

If you are told you were driving too fast, the natural question is to ask what the speed limit is so one could comply. I do not think you would get arrested for that.

See my previous post.
Even at 500GB and cutting 30%(as you said) that puts you at 350GB. Well over the established *Inviso-Cap*.

LOL!
Which is why was difficult to comply with an undisclosed "inviso-cap". That is whay I asked for a number. Not something that would be argumentative.
Wow! Just... wow!

Obviously a 30% cut back does not mean a cut back to you. If your employer would cut back 30% of your salary, would you also see it as no change ?
If I recall correctly from a previous post, you stated you cutback from 600gb the month you got warned, to 450gb the month you got canned.

And you have an argument??

Terry
600? Geez dude, this is getting rather silly!
I said 500, not 600 which is what Terry said. While you seem to like big numbers, you may believe I downloaded 1000 terabytes, it does not make a difference in the argument.

Really ? So a 30% cut in usage is nothing, but a 30% cut in salary means something.
You can't relate a 30% cut back with someone's salary. Now if you would relate it to cutting back comp time or OT for hourly workers, you would be more accurate. Even in those situations, cutting back excessive overage with comp time or OT is understandable.

What was that number?
500.
You trashed 500GB in a month cut 30% which means you did another 350 the following month?

OMG!
This was in the THIRD month as a Earthlink customer. As we see people with 800 GB usage, 350 is not that bad, it is only 18% of the theoretical throughput of the line.

Your recollection is incorrect. It was 500 initially (half a terabyte as they said, which is 512 and then they said is really 500), then I cut to 351 according to my router's logs.

They did claim 480 the subsequent call, but that was incorrect according to my logs.

Of course, as we see in the proposed metering, what the customer says may not matter at all.

Here, simply put for you...
You abused the system.
They called and said to cut back.
You argued and didn't cut back.
They cut you off.

That is a ridiculous comparison. You are embarrassing yourself.

You said they didn't give you a number... WTF?
You abused the connection.
You were warned.
You continued.
You got booted.
They did give a number of current usage. I asked what number would be acceptable and they would not give a number as acceptable. I cut 30% of the initial usage number, although I was an Earthlink customer and was assured there is no cap (by Earthlink).

Still having problems to understand ?
