Can they? The problem (yes, even for Apple) is backwards compatibility. They can't update all of their Macs with a security chip and then tell everyone that only new Macs will get Snow Leopard OS X, so all older Mac users (whose Macs don't have the chip) are screwed. Now, they could introduce the chip now, but even Apple would have to wait a few years. (Much like how Snow Leopard is rumored not to work on PowerPC Macs- they've had several years to upgrade to Intel and now they can reasonably drop support) |
