Avg Free 8.0 requires reboot after update on only 1 of 2 compute

I have a desktop and a laptop computer. Both have Vista and AVG 8.0 Free installed. The desktop downloads AVG updates every day with no problems or any requirements for reboot. Every time the laptop downloads AVG updates it requires a reboot. I have removed and reinstalled AVG, I have tried to remove temporary files (can't find where to remove them) all to no avail. Does anyone know why one computer works and the other doesn't?

Do you have the laptop set to update immediately?

Advanced Settings | Update | Update Immediately | Require confirmation from the user

There is a setting somewhere to correct that. I had that issue too and resolved it before switching to Avast.

Not having AVG anymore, I am unable to determine if this is the correct procedure:

Try/check this:
1. Launch AVG free Control Center
2. Highlight Update Manager and select Properties at the bottom
3. Make sure the Properties tab is the one you are looking at (not the General tab)
4. Remove the circle from "update upon next computer restart" by putting a circle in the choice below this "update immediately" and If computer restart is required (sometimes it is) select "require confirmation from the user".

Thank you for your help. AVG 8.0 now seems to work as I expected. This problem was driving me crazy.
