Would never consider it - in the way some may add thousands of URLs to a list.
Possibly for specific limited circumstances. Like when an address has changed, but not yet propagated through DNS.

@sbcglobal.net | reply to Oleg I use the hosts file at »www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm with modifications so that some of my tracking sites can be reached. It's pretty effective at blocking most ads. |

| reply to Oleg Do you use a host file? Not for any security purpose.
I use the one that came with the operating system, and perhaps add one or two local hosts for convenient reference (but with their correct IP address, not an attempt to block). -- AT&T dsl; Westell 327w modem/router; openSuSE 11.0; firefox 3.0.1 |

Depending on what I feel might work best, either the hphosts or mvps.org versions. |

I use the MVPS one, with Hosts Man. There are a few entries I have excluded, because they prevent Yahoo and Space.com videos from working, as well as downloads of Google Earth. -- "The trouble with computers, of course, is that they are very sophisticated idiots." - Doctor Who (from Robot)
