Are the Samsung LCD / FIOS TV issues resolved yet?

I have FIOS internet, and I just got a letter in the mail the other day about FIOS tv coming to my area and to call them to schedule ahead.

I have a Samsung LNT3242H, which I would use for my FIOS tv. I've read horror stories about Samsung tv's and FIOS tv....

Are these issues still going on, and is it specific Samsung tv models?

I have a Samsung LN46A750 and I have no problems with FIOS TV.. the picture is amazing and the quality of the TV with FIOS is much better than Comcast which I had previous. Also make sure your picture size is set to 16:9. I am not sure about your model but that is how any size/image issues can be fixed if there are issues.

I have the A650 and I think he is referring to the "green line" up the side while in "just scan" mode? If so, that should be resolved by the end of August or September. BTW, I set to 16x9 (not "just scan") and everything is fine. Once calibrated this TV looks better than my RP Hitachi CRT....even on SD material!!!

Not certain about fixed. I can say that I haven't had my HDMI connection tell me "unsupported mode" in some time. That doesn't mean it is fixed, though. That problem pops up when you least expect it.

I have a Sammy 52-750 without any issues. FIOS looks great on it.

I have a Samsung LNT-4661 and still have the green line when the DVR box is set to 1080i and use "Just Scan" mode. That is the only issue I have. I have my DVR box set to 720p now so I don't see it, but hope they fix the green line issue soon because I think my set looked better when the feed was 1080i.

I have my Sammy set to "16x9" and no green line. Looks great!!! I assume you tried that?

Box set to 1080I and 4:3 stretch.....

I believe the green line issue has nothing to do with FiOS to be honest. Its a known problem with the Samsungs. Very annoying and I wish they would fix it for free with some sort of firmware update. I had the green line using Just Scan with Time warner as well as with some video games.

Best (and only) solution for now is just using 16X9. Some sources you won't see the green line (some blu ray movies on my PS3, some games on my 360). I think its a problem with the image not filling the full resolution or something.

It is more than just Samsung's. My Sony 40" XBR LCD also has the green vertical line on the right side of the screen if the HD DVR is set to 1080i.

Hello,

No issues with Sammy LCD or PN42A450 Plasma. The Plasma supports 480i/480p de-interlacing thru HDMI w/o "not supported error," unlike the LCD, which the HD DVR STB has to be accessed via the Menu-Select option. Sometimes, the DVR changes the settings by itself. No green lines here.

Actually, it has EVERYTHING to do with FIOS. It is a fault in Verizon's HDMI driver that was introduced with version 1.5 of the IMG - it was never there with the original IPG. It happens on my Sharp 52" and many other brands. It is supposed to be fixed in the update (V1.6) that is going out in stages now.

I don't what model # he has, but I do not have that problem with the Wii or HD Dvd on "just scan"....only the FIOS box.

I did not have this problem with my Toshiba and the Fios Moto box....

I have the Samsung FP-T5084 50" Plasma.

If you check the AVS forums, pretty much everyone with this set has the green line issue when using Just Scan. It only happens with certain feeds though. Happens with FiOs TV, happens with some video games. It seems to be dependent on source. For instance, I don't get it when watching Blu Ray movies.

If someone is getting it on a Sony as well, perhaps their set has the same problem mine does while using just scan.

I don't really see a difference between just scan and 16x9 anyway so it doesn't bother me too much. I believe the firmware upgrade that fixed it for one poster was probably a Samsung firmware upgrade. Until your set gets the upgrade from the manufacturer you're probably going to always have it.

I'm not 100% positive but isn't one work around to use component cables instead of HDMI?

Sometimes I see this on my Toshiba or two Samsungs, through my TiVos. This will also happen from Comcast. If I see it on FIOS, I can switch to the channel on Comcast and see the same thing.
I also saw this occasionally when I had a Westinghouse, HP, and Olevia set.

Yeah..

So basically its not FioS's fault guys. Its a problem with the source not being able to output enough data for Just Scan. At least thats what I think judging by people on various forums seeing this same issue with all different types of hardware.

Except you're missing the point that it worked fine (e.g. this problem did NOT exist) for Vz customers until the 1.5 version of the IMG was released...

Thanks for the backup Darci - and it's NOT just Samsungs' so the "Just Scan" mode is not appropriate to all with the issue!
