| [DSL] Becoming Pingable
Hi I ran a Tweak test: »/tweakr/block:···nXPpppoe
Several times and it say's unpingable so I read the FAQ sheet and Applied to my firewall to become pingable but I am still unpingable. Windowsxp is the only firewall I have. I have DSL 1.5mb from AT&T running windows xp home on an HP. I also tried with my firewall turned off but still unpingable Can someone please help,Thanks Herb |

| That MODEM has a built-in firewall which is most likely on and could be the reason why you are not pingable.
Open the Motorola config page with 192.168.1.254/ and type in your AT&T email id and password in the user id and password boxes and click on the connect button. Might ask you for the modem access code which is the 10 digit code at the bottom of the modem on the yellow sticker.
Go to Firewall and Passwords and turn the firewall off.
Now see if you are pingable.

Set Tcp Receive Window to 31944
Set Windows Scaling, Time Stamping, Selective Acks, Path MTU Discovery, Black Hole Detection to Default.
Leave Max Duplicate Acks and TTL Blank
Using the drop-down menu in The Doctor set your NIC’s (Ethernet adapter’s) MTU to 1492.
Save/Exit DrTcp
Reboot
Rerun the Tweak Test
Run Two Speed Tests from the two DIFFERENT cities nearest to you that are listed here: Speakeasy POPs
Also, test here »ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/test512
Note your transfer rate after about 30 seconds. Then cancel the download.
Post the URL for the New Tweak Test. For the TWO Speakeasy Tests, Copy and Paste the speed results from those tests and note the speed from the FTP download test.

| The MTU is not set to 1492. Did you enter it in the drop sown NIC box?
Also, check your MODEM to see if there is a MTU setting. It should be set to 1492.
If all that fails, we will try another way.
