ABR800 with 56" Moon Unit versus Large Octabox

I rented one medium and large softbox as well as a large octabox last week. Basically to try them and see what I liked better.

I ended up liking the Octabox better. However, after doing price comparisons, I found out an ABR800 with a 56" Moon Unit with 50" Octagon on top turns out to cost 80$ more than if I got a AB800 with a Large Octabox.

So rather than getting 3x AB800, I'd get 2x AB800 and 1x ABR800. Sadly even though the Moon Unit is bigger than a regular Octabox, it is considerably less deep. I could not find anywhere to rent it (only one shop, which rented a Profoto ringflash, but no moon unit, and expansive even to rent!)

Has anyone ever used the ABR800 with a 56" Moon Unit and tell me how the light compares to a large softbox or octabox with normal monolight?

I had both moonunits for the ring light and hated the light they made. I used them all of two times and sold them off. They don't have enough depth to bounce the light around and give you a really soft light. Basically it's a million miles off the mark compared to a good Chimera softbox or an Elinchrom Octabank.

I haven't used the other octa box Alien bee sells, but my friend said it was much better than the moon unit.
