 Slow Speeds in Cleveland, OH?

I'm in the Cleveland, OH area and for the past hour or so I've had slow speeds. A Disconnect did occur about 2 times as well. I ran a Speed Test about 20 minutes ago at Speakeasy and these were the results:

Download Speed: 501 kbps (62.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 490 kbps (61.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

My Upload seems to be fine, but not my download for some reason. I ran another test a few minutes ago and these were the results:

Download Speed: 1067 kbps (133.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 490 kbps (61.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

I'm wondering if there's a problem in the Cleveland, OH Area. I checked my cable lines and they're intact. I'm about to call Time Warner about this in a few minutes. Was wondering if anyone else was having the same problem?

I'm in Cleveland and my speed are fine as of 11:10 p.m. I'm on Turbo. Have you tried rebooting your modem, router, computer?

Download Speed: 14895 kbps (1861.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 727 kbps (90.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

A node has gone bad, C. they have to many customers and there network is getting congested because they dont have the capability to serve all of us.

After three truck rolls they seem to have it narrowed down don't they? The only possibilities they left our were "God Hates You" and a hamster chewing wires.

Former Adelphia customers will have capacity related issues until they finish their build out. Slow Internet speeds and On Demand problems will continue until areas come online to the new fiber.

They seem to be managing things via repeated truck rolls - hoping that folks will just get tired of dealing with the "cable guy" and give up.

Im not a former adelphia customer , always been roadrunner. It looks like theyve outsourced more then they can handle, time to upgrade or take a few customers off.

Something is definitely going on here in the Cleveland Area with Time Warner/Road Runner. Sunday Evening I had the Speed Issues I posted already. Then on Monday Evening I couldn't visit some websites unless I refreshed multiple times, didn't check my speed on Monday, though I probably should have. And then Tuesday Evening I had Speed Issues once again. (I was on Xbox Live Tuesday Evening and had lag in every game)

So it's been 3 Nights so far, and it always takes place in the Evening. around certain times.

Sunday it was around 7-8:30 or 9 PM.
Monday around 9-10:30 PM.
Tuesday around 11 PM to 1 AM.

I wouldn't be surprised if something happens again tonight, maybe around 1 AM this time, who knows. But there's definitely a problem and it has to be on Time Warner/Road Runner's end here in the Cleveland Area.

You guy are lucky at least your up. My Internet goes down every three or so days, all day. This has been going on for about two months. If I didn't have my house up for sale, I would have gotten rid of TW and got DSL, and a Dish. I did get rid of the phone service, since the Internet can never stay up, the phones are useless...........

Im in Akron and the evenings here are really bad anymore. I have RR Turbo and for the last 3-4 weeks i am lucky if i can hit a 1mb d/l speed. Most times i am in the 750-850 kbps range. Its during peak hours in the evening that this occurs.

I had this problem back in Oct. of 2007 thru approx. March. I cannot tell you how many techs they sent out or how many people i talked to at Time Warner. The problem seemed to get better in late spring/summer but now it is back to its old tricks.

Its bad enough my area has this issue. Its another thing that no one, and i mean no one knows anything that i talk to. The incompetence is off the charts they display. I have asked for supervisor call backs, been told they would and nothing happens. I have 0 confidence in them anymore. They have lied and stuttered thru every request i make and never follow through with anything.

AT&T offers a high end of 6mb d/l speed via DSL and i am seriously considering it. RR during offpeak hours is fantastic. But from about 7 p.m. to well after 12 midnight it is nearing dialup speeds at times. I am at my wits end. Its amazing how a company this big can be this out to lunch on every aspect of customer service.

I've been having TW internet problems for the past year here on the West side of Cleveland. I'm a former Comcast customer (which worked perfectly fine until TW took over last year) and I'm on Turbo now, but like many of you, during peak hours and even other random times, I'll get less than 1Mbps and it's even noticeable just browsing the web. I can't use services like Netflix steaming due to the lack of speed (which only requires a 2.5Mbps speed) and on Xbox Live I consistently have the worst connection in a game, even though I'll be playing with friends that are on TW and live less than 10 miles away, and their connections are fine. After many many calls and visits, they've even admitted that taps on the polls have gone bad on or around my street and still nothing has been done. I've made the decision to switch to Windstream even though the top speed is 3Mbps. At least that will be faster than TW Turbo %50+ of the time. I just wish AT&T was out here, but the only county where they don't have home phone and therefore nothing else is here in Lorain county:(

We gota all just keep pushing them till they finally fix it. They know theres a problem, hopefully well see it fixed by the end of this month if we keep pushing them.

Good point, although I bet the only thing that will get them to fix the issues is when they lose enough customers. That won't happen until FIOS is available everywhere.

I'm told there is a build out going on that is scheduled to go online in stages through 2009. I doubt any migrated customer in NE Ohio is getting capacity intensive services (turbo speeds, VOD, especially HDVOD) during peak hours.

When my connections good - its golden.

low ping times - fast speeds - and good routing till I hand off the TWC network.

When it goes bad I have the same experience as everyone else here. I have personally gotten over $100 in credits thus far. I have had countless INR techs out... 2 PM techs out - a PM supervisor visit and still more of the same.

I've given up. Last I checked with ATG tools (one of TWC's monitoring tools) I was still sharing my overloaded cable card with the same overloaded CMTS chassis, overloaded OC12's coming out of the North Canton routers... The list can go on.

I have a backup plan. EVDO REV-A - connection speeds and ping times that will often trump my connection with Roadrunner provided by TWC.

Now I new when I was moving I was going into old Adelphia territory... but not once did I ever imagine it could be this bad.

I have the ability to switch to Uverse. That is an option for me. But in order to get the same package that I'm getting with TWC including their 10M internet my bill would be going up $50-$60 a month.

So for now I stay. I'll wait and see if/when they ever finish this fiber build out. I'll have to wait and see if they ever fix on demand, my digital break up on the TV, lost audio etc...

I still have faith because I know some good guys that still work there... but that faith is slowly fading.

At least it's not only me. I wish i hd the Uverse option, I'd gladly pay more for something and actually get it.

Im starting to think there throttling now, I download at least 100gigs of legal stuff a month , if there throttling because of legal downloads ima get annoyed. They might end up with the same fate as comcast , lawsuit, bankrupt.
