Go for it...

This may or may not fly but I enjoyed reading the story. Here is a guy trying to bring something to his community without a public subsidy. I hope he has a business plan, a good accountant and makes a bundle--someday.

I hope it works, too. Oh, and you can get "light licensed" 3.65 GHz WiMax equipment and such. The license costs next to nothing ($120 for 10 years iirc) so it's basically just insurance against cordless phones, baby monitors, etc. clogging up the spectrum.

If this works, it would be a hallmark that other cities could base their networks off of. Or other people. This is pretty much what WiMax is made for...

I live just north of Delray Beach, and I can tell you for sure that the demographics that make up the majority of that city are not the type that are going to shell out any money for a wireless Internet system. It just ain't going to fly!

they're not going to pay for the system. They'd pay to use it just like they pay ATT, VZ, or Comcast, Bright House or someone else for access to the Internet.

That is what I am talking about. The demographics that make up the majority of that city are not the type to be surfing the net (in any form), much less shell out money on a monthly basis for wireless Internet access.

Maybe we should call Telco and Cable co and see how many customers they have in that area for internet.

I'll bet you its more than what you think and claim. Just because you don't think so i'll bet you that you're wrong.

I am too lazy and really couldn't care. You are right, the service will be a hit.
