| [Florida] Renew tags in another county?
I work out of town during the week. I usually leave home at 6am on Monday, and don't get home till 5pm on Friday. The county offices are closed when I get home.
I have three tags I have to renew. Two trailers and a motorcycle. Can I renew my tags from a different county? I live in Volusia County, but I work in either St. Lucie County or Broward County.

| Thought about putting it there, but that forum is filled with happy birthday posts.... thought it would get better attention here...
As for mailing them in. I have a tag that is over a year old w/o renewing, so I have to go to the tag office... -- "I reject your reality and subsitute my own!" - Adam Savage, Mythbusters "We're either gonna die or gonna fly...", Jamie Hyneman, Mythbusters - M5 Industries |

No you don't I transfered plates from a hurricane Wilma drowned car (and scooter too) near 2 years later to a new vehicle, no penalty just cost saving as long as not caught on the road and no insurance. -- »haywardm.com (Hayward's Key West)

Already been to the website to see about renewing them. The site tells me that because the tag is more than 8 months overdue, that I have to go to my local tax collectors office (tag office) and renew my plate.
As for mail in, if you didn't renew it last year, they wont send you a card for renewing the following year. -- "I reject your reality and subsitute my own!" - Adam Savage, Mythbusters "We're either gonna die or gonna fly...", Jamie Hyneman, Mythbusters - M5 Industries |

| That could well be... Key West is small, and actually tax/plate office is 5 blocks away... so never tried online for that.... just took the LONG expired plates to the office.
AND NO PENALTY FOR NOT SURRENDERING THEM THERE TECHNICALLY IS SUPPOSED TO BE. Just discount on new transfered reg. -- »haywardm.com (Hayward's Key West)

| reply to neonhomer It all depends on the area/state. Was not till fairly recently that in Ohio you can go to any DMV and renew tags otherwise you had to go to any DMV in the county you lived in. Call the DMV - they will be able to tell oyu. -- Brian

| reply to neonhomer Heard this back from the state.....
So I need to run down there and get a tag renewed....

Dear Mr. NeonHomer:
Thank you for your recent inquiry.
You can renew in any county. You do not have to renew in the county of your residence.
We hope this information will assist you.

We can renew online and by phone.
I just can't renew the one plate I need because it is over a year past due. |

| reply to neonhomer Yes you can, most plates now say myflorida.com either way even if you get them directly from the DMV offices across every county.
You can also renew them online through the FL DMV renewal website at: »https://www7.hsmv.state.fl.us/VirtualOff···obby.jsp |

If the tag has been expired for more than 8 months you have to go to the local tag office to renew it, it says so right on the renewal screen. -- I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but what I'm not sure about is that what you heard isn't exactly what I meant. |
