Re: New Panasonic has Superwide, Superfast Lens.

I agree Nezmo See Profile, I too would love to see them make strides in better low light capabilities and better high ISO performance. If they could lock down those two things.. man oh man.. they would have a super camera, lol.

The one nice thing with the LX3 is that it can shoot in RAW mode and I can tell you, from experience with the FZ8, that RAW mode allows you to squeeze far more detail and extra capabilities out of the camera when using it... you should know that from your Canon dSLRs.

Alot of review sites scream about the terrible noise with Panasonics, but I still have not really seen this problem with any of the models I own nor have used. They seem to have a tiny bit more then some of the competition, but they also seem to capture more details and truer colors as well. I do know that one simple tweak in the menu/setup gets rid of a boat load of noise and makes images much more superior.

Simple to do too...

Go to your picture adjustment (PICT.ADJ. on most or maybe Color Mode on some) and set it to Natural instead of the Normal default.

Next, go to the Noise Reduction settings and either turn it off or as low as possible and use a program like Neat Image + custom profile instead.

Using the above technique I can get decent ISO200 and ISO400 shots from my LZ2. Haven't tried on the FZ8 + RAW as of yet to be honest, as I have had no need to shoot above ISO100 on it yet.
