New home in New Mexico

At last! We leave the swamps of Louisiana and hit the high plains of New Mexico.

Portales it is. My wife will work at ENMU and I will stay
at home and play with my FTTH connection! w00t.

Any Linux users in Eastern NM?

That will be an amazing change of environment! I'm sure you'll find Linux users in Portales but you could also search for aliens in Roswell or bats in Carlsbad. Good luck!

Yea if I lived in LA I would have got out of there along time ago. I was sick of the people from NO when they all came to Houston. I was AUDI as soon as i can. Thank God.

The Yucca Telecom fiber project in Peanutville seems to moving along nicely. Give us a report once you are connected.

I don't believe Cannon actually closed. It's mission has changed, but it was never decommissioned.

Congrats to your wife for her employment at my alma mater!

Enjoy living in a climate where your sweat will actually evaporate and cool your body when it's hot outside.

Your body will think it's died and gone to heaven. So will your stomach if you're fond of green chile stew.

I spent a couple of weeks in Portales once...............................that's all I can say about that, not a whole lot there. I heard a rumor that the girls at the college sun bath topless in the summer. Turns out it was all bullshit. I met a lot of nice people there though even if they weren't topless.

If anyone wants to help tile 5 rooms please stop by.

Just got cable hooked up.
Installers (Comast) were good, Linux isn't supported
but the lead installer was able to open a term and
play a little. »/testhistory/1449746/9032b

Well we have a home in Portales, NM.
One week from today they will put the
FTTH stuff on our house. The speed seems
a little anemic but talking to one of the
service techs (he and his boss both are
in the process of learning Linux) I think
it will be just fine. 2000 up will be great
for those huge FTP's my wife sends off.

Stay tuned.

After one month I have FTTH here in Portales.
Look at those numbers in the link and help me weep.

Is it too late to say hello. I really enjoy the portales area (it's a might dry here in Albuquerque). Moved here in '96 from OKC. My wife still can't get over no mold in the tub/shower. Glad you got the 'puter running and best wishes.
