A little trick I have used with a pencil erasure is to lightly rub the contacts on the card. This will polish any tarnishing, or light corrosion that might be present, making better connection within the camera, and reader. Doesn't take much to interfere with the connection, and possibly cause too much resistance.

Jus' a little insurance. :)

Try shooting RAW+jpg to make sure... or extract the embedded jpg from a damaged PEF/DNG.

If the jpgs look fine but the RAWs don't, it points to the card as the problem.

If the jpgs show the same exact same weird effects as your processed raws, I'd blame the camera in a heartbeat. A write error to the card could not affect the jpg the same way as the RAW.

Well, you'll know after you get the new card. I assume you've formatted the old card recently? [EDIT: Doh, you posted that it was formatted in the camera.] Obviously, you could try reformatting in the camera a couple more times.
