Thanks for the update!

1.20 = no gigabit on WAN

How do you know this? Is there any indication of where you can see the WAN speed on the device?

I believe it was just an oversight in the GUI of the router. If you select AUTO for the WAN port speed, it will connect at 1.0 Gbps (if you have a capable networking card). I have a gigabit networking card and am able to connect through a WAN port on the router at 1.0 Gbps.

The old FW allowed one to select gigabit and the new didn't. So I assumed. Shame one me.

Also noticed the new FW allows configuration of a second "guest" SSID as well as https access to the gui.

Will this firmware upgrade allow me to bridge another wireless device to this one?

I need network in one building to connect to the network in another building about 100' away. Cable run is not possible.

Used to be able to do this and then Dlink took away that ability with a firmware upgrade. I am hoping the add it back at some point.

Solid update, albeit minor quirks.

After the update and estimating speed page, it timed out and XP reports limited connectivity. First refresh was unable to load page, then with a second refresh the router login page finally appeared.

Restored saved settings from 1.12 just fine, as usual.

A "WFADevice" entry now appears in addition to the "Xtreme N GIGABIT Router" entry in XP's My Network Places. At least for a little while. Also, "Internet Connection" is now gone from XP's Network Connections. Whatever.

Nice how on the router config pages everything is properly disabled when you login as guest. However, this makes it hard now when you want to then login as admin! lol (because before, could go to reboot device and it would say no and then jump you to the login page)

Each WISH priority (VO, BE, etc.) now has a "high" and "low" designation. The BK ones seem to not be used automatically, with "BE (L)" used now for what used to be BK.

Many other little settings changes and additions throughout, but seems they didn't bother taking the time to update most of the help text concerning settings that were changed.

Oh, and they finally fixed the "Log Entries:?" issue!!! LOL

This behavior is also seen in the new 1.10 firmware update for the DGL-4500. I suspect they used the same buggy "updated" UPnP code in both model's firmware updates.

I'm curious to know if this firmware changed the default MAC addresses for the DIR-655 on the WAN/LAN as well. Can someone check this and confirm/deny?

Sadly USB host support hasn't been added, and neither has client bridging. My guess is that this will be the last major firmware release for this router.

For anyone interested. My WAN MAC address changed to match my original LAN MAC address which did not change.

I printed pages with all my settings, reset to factory defaults, flashed to 1.20, reset to factory defaults.

Looked back at my printouts and WAN was the only thing changed

Sigh.. that figures. A return to old behavior of previous routers where this was botched as well. (But I suppose it's fine with Vista? heh)

Found another 1.20 change or anomaly, which is strange... Connections between my wired computer and an AP client I have on another computer on the network no longer show up in WISH Sessions (or Internet Sessions). The computer on the AP client shows up fine, but not the AP client's IP anymore. (It does show up as an associated device in the Wireless section as expected, just that when I use the AP client's config pages, those connections from my computer to there no longer show up like they used to.)

Also strange now is when I use VNC Viewer to connect to another wireless computer on the network, the connection is not listed in either section! What did they do...

Update bricked my router, on my way to pick up a new one.

I see you are living in the EU just like me. Did u buy the router in Sweden? Normally it just works fine to flash US firmware to EU models. I did it with previous firmwares of this router some time ago. What revision of the router do you have? A1, A2 or A3 ?

Anyone else seeing only 20Mhz for channel width in the main status page under the wireless lan heading? I have set 20/40 (even reset to 20 only and then back to 20/40).

The picks I see are 20MHz, and Auto 20/40MHz, same as 1.11.

@comcast.net

I do see the option for channel width under Wireless Settings and have it set to Auto 20/40.

Under Status->Device Info the Wireless LAN section reports only a 20Mhz width, and the Status->Wireless now reports 130Mbps with 100% signal for my DWA-140 that was connecting at 300Mbps.

Oh yes I see what you mean. Channel Width wasn't reported there in 1.11. Unfortunately I don't have any full 300Mbps clients to check speed (all Intel 4965AGN here running at 130Mbps).

There is also something new under the Advanced tab -> Guest Zone.
